Xicoy 90 and 120

Released yesterday, the new Xicoy 90 and 120.

My own X 45 hugely impressed me, a truly superb engine in every way, as is my Jetsmunt Merlin 100. Amazing value too !

If these engines are even half as good as the 45 and 100 they will be exceptionally successful and I wish them every success with both these new engines and turboshaft and turbo prop versions of the 45.

Well done, Gaspar and Mike.

Just saw them this morning on the USA importer/distributor site

https://www.fb-rc.com/xicoy-turbines

Much like the X45, the installed weights of the new 90 and 120 are quite low
I would expect the same quality and performance that people have come to expect from Gaspar.

They look great kinda pricey though. Lol

Always one! LOL Once I have pricing I will update according. :p
Going to be a good 2021 for rc jets, I have a two twin projects the 120 is prefect for since both are tail mount turbine designs. When I get one I will do my usual video unboxing/review, being able to adjust thrust ranges allows motors to be run in smaller models while keeping similar motor sizing. great for guys with multiple models that want to move the motor around. Just do the install kit and it becomes simple for this type of person.

I’m all in for one when Keith has them available. I emailed him about this yesterday because I was impressed by the specs., and Xicoy seems to deliver on the tech., yet still reasonable pricing.

Nope lol prices listed and let the beating continue!

Also due the worst website hosting I have ever seen I will be taking my domain back to shopify, the address will not change but the site will look slightly different with some features like the discussion forum will be gone for a bit. The old Jets Munt USA site is still there just being changed and locked atm and
I found a third party legit full up forum that embeds with shopify so I will add that eventually.
Just taking awhile since the import of over 500 items didnt work all that well so I have to go back and edit every single item again.
No idea how Wix gets a good review, worst of everything uggghh

patf 11-04-2020 07:28 AM

hang in there! website backends have changed so dramatically over the past years, google "hooks" and all, not to mention the storefront aspect. I can see why so many have separate "shopping" experiences from the browsing piece...

Has anyone taken delivery of one of these yet?
First impressions?

Hi Joe, all my pre-orders are pushed to March and was a really large order, so unless they got one from some place else I don't think the US has any yet. I'm getting two for the 120s for F-22/F-18 so I will have plenty of info on that one and the other I will do a "whats in the box" video showing the weight and features once I get on.

A friend of mine is using the 90 one. He had it already 2 times servicing as this version is sensible to bubbles or micro-dirt inside the fuel.

Every turbine engine is sensitive to bubbles and dirt inside the fuel

I didn't think the engine was out to customers and in planes yet.

your friend most probably means the older version of a Jetsmunt turbine and got some dirt in the fuel lines. No turbine likes that.

sorry - Gaspar is right. I was confused.
sorry again.

Any reports of how the fuel consumption is in real life compared to Xicoy's published data?

I loaned both my X45 and 120 to Colin Straus for RCJI review. The 120 review was in June/July RCJI and Colin’s figures have all been very accurate.
My flight tests on the 120 show it to be conservative on fuel burn. It is a top class engine in all respects, power , size, weight, fuel economy
I have the latest 90 on order, expected in Jan, and that, too, will be loaned to Colin for tests and fuel figures will be in that review.

The 90 will be flight tested on my Paritech DG 303 .

That review of the 120 in RCJI is what prompted me to buy mine. Great write up.

David Gladwin 02-09-2022 03:53 AM

I am sure you will be delighted with the 120, a real “Rolex”.

Just to be clear some guys think, because I always write good reviews for RCJI that they are freebies !

In fact all the items I review are purchased by me, after careful consideration of quality and suitability, before they are reviewed and it has to be good, very good, none better, to get into any of my models. The 45 and 120 ticked the boxes !

I guess one of the new 180s will be next, a little more thrust as the Pegasus in my BVM Phantom but half the weight, and lower fuel burn !
Enjoy your new engine !

rchotdogpilot 02-09-2022 05:18 AM

Yes, it is a SPECTACULAR piece of engineering. I also am on the list for the 180. Can't wait! It will start in a CARF Eurosport then eventually in a 1/6 scale F-16. But because of the wonderful insights of Gaspar, I will be swapping the 180 between both airframes.

David Gladwin 02-11-2022 01:14 AM

The QEC concept of Xicoy is just one of the many attributes. Using the second installation kits I have two models equipped for both my 45 and 120. Engine swap in very few minutes with minimal effort !
