Jet Cat Kero Conversion..

I recently converted my JC P-80SE over to a Kero start. Will my 3200 mah Li-Po battery be enough?

Thanks,
Larry

What "C" rating are you looking at? Kero start takes a chunk more power as it does not start as quickly or cleanly as Propane.

A 3200 2S Lipo has no problem starting my JetCat P70 converted to Kero start.
The start pulls a peak of around 40 amps, just make sure that your battery C rating can handle that.

I just checked the C rating and it is a 20C. Looks like I will have to change it after all.

Thanks ,
Larry

I fixed the title of the thread, it was driving my OCD nuts :)

Have had exact motor for years. I use A123's (30C) from Hangtime Hobbies.
Using same 3s pack for 7 years now in my Sprint. Do 4 flights before I recharge.
Like A123's since I can leave them in the plane.

A123 Systems 26650 Nano M1B Pack

Pack Voltage: 9.9v 2500ma

Rating: 30C (75.0A) Continuous

3200mAh @ 20C is 64A... Should be ok...

I do not think that the OP's ECU will run 3S LiFe voltages without being upgraded by JetCat. Most of the older JetCat ECU's are 2S LiPo only. I had a 160SX JetCat with the version 6 ECU and it was labeled 2S LiPo only. The version 6 ECU's can be upgrade to 3S LiFe and the ECU's are so labeled when that happens.

I flew my F100 that and Kero plug on a 2 cell 2600 Ion for years. The draw is not a problem. Dan

I have been running a 2S 7.4V Li-Po for years without a problem. I know 3S Life's are 9V when fully charged, so unless I have a problem, I'll keep using 7.4V 2S Li-Po's..

The 3 cell life is the standard battery pack now for jet cat motors, The 3 cell life will work fine with the older style V6 ecu even with out the upgrade just dont come hot off the charger with starts. Let the pack settle down for a while or just charge up the nite before the flying day.

In the U.K. 99.9% of people use 2s Li-Po batteries as std. I sell nothing but 50c packs between 2700 and 5000mah and summer or winter they start.
Lower C cheaper( not matched cells) work if kept topped up/or warm.
The External Kero unit burns a lot more energy than internal versions, my Rebel Hot on a 2700 2s 50C pack is only good for 5 flights in the winter…
I would not run a 3s Li-Fe on V4.9-6.3 personally
