BVM Kingcat

I bought a 10+ year old Cat at Joe Nall. Air retracts. Anyone know recommended balance point? And control throws. Thanks!

It's here, in the manual from BVM's website:
Attachment 2274400

Thanks. Mine is balsa, not composite. Same numbers apply? Appreciate it!

Have you contacted BVM Jets about your "all balsa" KingCat? Seems they would have the info you seek.....

phillip61 07-10-2024 01:55 PM

That was my next step if no one has a manual. Thanks

DUCMOZ 07-10-2024 02:21 PM

Are you certain that it is King Cat and Not Bob Cat, I have built most BVM kits and since late 80's and don't think ever seen a Balsa King Cat.

phillip61 07-10-2024 02:46 PM

Ok, new to bvm jets. Will check further, thanks

Never heard of an "all balsa" Kingcat. In fact, I owned one of the first Kingcats and it was all composite.
Like DUCMOZ said, you may have a Bobcat, which is smaller than the Kingcat. If I'm not mistaken, there was a Bobcat Composite and a standard Bobcat, which may have had balsa construction.

Can you say "Robert" at BVM?

He is your friend, or one of the girls can probably help you get the reference information you seek. One of them is Bob V's daughter and been around for a long time, the other has been with BVM for quite a few years. Both of them know what's going on at BVM and both are easy to work with...... ;)

Pics can help us tell if it’s a KC.

phillip61 07-11-2024 02:33 AM

Thanks, will do

LGM Graphix 07-11-2024 06:22 PM

It's not a kingcat if it's balsa. All of the kingcats were composite. I have a first generation still and it's composite. I also have a bobcat XL. It is fiberglass fuse and booms and balsa wings and stab.
Kingcat is a 120 size jet, the balsa bobcats were 60 to 80 size though I've seen 120s on them which is crazy.

LGM Graphix 07-11-2024 06:23 PM

Kingcat is about 8 feet long. Bobcat is a bit over 6 feet.

Besides this you would not be able to put a single one of 3 fuel tanks from a kingcat in a balsa Bobcat.

BVM Cat lineage
Bobcat
Bobcat XL
Kingcat
Composite Bobcat

Ive owned and flown all but original short boom Bobcat.

phillip61 07-13-2024 03:52 AM

Checked again, not all balsa. Composite fuse and skin. Also has 3 tanks, and is about 8 ft long. Will call bvm for manual.
thanks to all who responded, as I’m new to jets.
