I have had nothing but pleasnt experiences with BV. The first time I met him I was on a charter trip in Orlando. We walked up to the door at his shop( The one that says no visitors) and were trying to look in at the airplanes. Bob himself came out the door and invited us in. He also gave us a tour of the shop and told us to look around as much as we liked.

I used to be one of those who was critical of BVM's pricing and other policies, but no more. I had a conversation with BV at Deland where he explained a number of things to me, and they made sense.
Even if you think his stuff is too expensive, what he has done for the hobby is enormous. Without his innovations, we would still be trying to power ducted fans with rubber bands. So if you think his planes are too expensive, buy something else - but give the man the respect he deserves. |

Hi Guys, I've known BV since 1980. I met him at a Tangerine Scale meet. I had a Byron Pitts done up in scale garb. He was so impressed that he invited me to his house for a New Years party. He loves the RC hobby as much as one can. He eats, sleeps, and drinks the hobby. If he used to be a little edgy, its because he had the fighter jock mentality. The guy had something like 50 missions off of carriers in VietNam. He's way more mellow now, and is always fun to be around to talk models or anything else with. Truly one our hobbies greats. Brian is correct. Even if you have never owned a BVM kit as I have not, we have ALL derived a plethora of uncounted benefits from the strides that BV has made in this field. Hats off to Bob. I hate to think of where this aspect of R/C would be without him!

Anyone that knows me knows I am a BVM junkie. I have owned and flown a LOT of different airplanes over the years. I have built and flown jets from several other manufacturers as well. When I bought my first BVM kit 6 years ago it was the F-16. I sold the kit before ever building it but bought a Bandit before doing that. My Bandit is a wonderfull airplane, and spoiled me to other kits. I have several other BVM airplanes, have built a ton of BVM kits, and will be taking delivery of my newest an F-100F in 2 weeks at Mississippi Afterburner. Over the last few years I have had the pleasure of getting to know Bob Violett personally and always enjoy the opportunity to talk jets with him. If you fly jets and don't have respect for this man you need to stop and think about where this aspect of the hobby would be without him.

After building a number of kits over the years, it is a treat to build one where the parts fit, the instructions are clear, and the quality is the best in the industry. BVM has raised the bar for every aspect of the hobby. I am just a repeat customer, not a rep for anybody.

10 Years ago I showed up at his shop unannounced and he spent at least 45 minutes with me walking me around, showing me the technology, and advising me on getting started with DF jets. As a result I purchased a Maverick. I cannot express how welcomed I felt, even though it was evident that I was a rookie who needed serious advice. I got it, from the master. This hobby should have more suppliers who take pride in their work like Bob Violett does!.

I go to BVM site everyday. I love his stuff and dream of owning one of his jets . I know I cant affort to by one now and probably never will.
I read a review on his bobcat in Rcjet magazine. This was my first inside look at a BVM jet. Excellent stuff. Unbelievable prefabrication. Maybe if Bob offer his kits with different level of prefabrication, and a reduced price, more people will buy his kits. Whether the guy is nice or not doesn’t matter to me. I just want to know if he likes to see more people fly his jets. Please Mr. violett, find a way to make your kits more affortable to many. thanks |

Ramtec2,
What did you have to modify on the P-47? Just curious.... |

I hope BVM never makes any prop planes......waste of time when they can be producing jets! I built a few Y/A kits and they were decent quality. I had a few problems with an F-16 but apparently they have fixed that. I probably won't buy another but that is just because they don't have anything that interests me.
