Well I'm thinking about joining the hobby of flying jets. I wanted to know if there are any websites that can explain how turbines work and blah blah blah. Just a newbie site.

you can go to the JPO website. www.jetpilots.org from there you will find many links. Notably Joe Lupton's page has a link to the old document that JPO had about turbine characteristics.
