hingeline & servo position
i was under the impression that a servo pushrod should be perpendicular to the hingeline

No your seeing what Iam seeing.
The linkage would move the rudder but not a good set up. This will,if set up tightly enough for high speed flight cause binding. Hope this isnt yours. Scott |

phew!!! that's a relief!
no it's not mine, its the 98% ARF by Aipack models from Honolulu i guess that's what u get for $ 1545 :eek: i have a similar problem on my Spitfire aileron hook-up, will mod a to perpendicular setup:D THANX to all 4 response Vasek |

It is not optimum but it sill work fine for this model.
I had similar linkages on a Bandit aileron, it went pretty fast with no problems. |

Its only off by the Cosine of the angle between the linkage and the hinge line. If that angle is close to 90 degrees, as it is here, the amount of off-axis movement is small. As Matt said, it is fine and will work just fine. Now another 10 degrees further from 90 degrees and you got trouble and you start to get some binding.

If the angle is too large, I use Robart horns with the ball link installed. I like having the push rod aligned with the airflow. If the angle is too large, you will have some problems, but the picture of the F-15 vertical fin seems like no problem. I wouldn't change it. |
