Has any built or flown this plane; Just wondering what you thing of them? I'm looking to build some good flying ducted fan aircraft that are from balsa construction and utilize OS 91/Dynamax fan. Any suggestion will be appreciated.

Yes I built one. It is sitting in the basement waiting for this f***ing Chicago weather to warm up and stop raining and the wind to slow down below 20 mph.

I like the airplane, make sure you glass the joint between the front and the rear of the fuselage.
I have heard it is a good flying airplane.

I've had a Skyburner since '93 with a total of about 160 flights on it. Started out with a OS .61/Dynamax then a .91/Dynamax then a .65/dynamax.
The .65 seems the best combination with good fuel consumption. I also use a PMP pipe. Good 6min flights on 16oz fuel. Initially had fixed gear for a while then switched to SpringAirs. Simple BB JR517 servos on the flight controls. Yes, the weak point is the fwd fuse. joint. I used 1/2" tri-stock with dowels. I also put some carbon fiber on the horz. tail spar. Mount the elev. control horn on the top side, otherwise you'll strip the elev. servo sometime. Mine was nose heavy and after a while I took out the tail weight and put a lifting canard on the nose. Good airplane. Currently retired waiting for a turbine mod.

I've built this jet and I'm having difficulty attaching the engine hatch and the canopy. How did you do it? Thanks.

I used BVM hatch latches on both ends of the engine cover.
The canopy was a trick for me. I couldn't find a good fitting canopy so I made a 1/4 plate and attached the canopy which made it sit higher on the airplane.

I made my own spring latches for the engine hatch. One fwd, one aft on the centerline, with the fwd bulkhead of the engine hatch extending into the fuse about a 1/2".
The canopy has a small tab on the front which is held down with a 6-32 screw, fastened after engine start. (see previous post photo). The aft part of the canopy captures the fwd 2" of the fuel tank. The base is a sheet of 3/32 balsa.
There are better ways out there now but this has worked for me for a while.
