Fan Performance

I would like to hear what folks consider to be the best fan/engine combination.
Dynajet/OS 91
Ramtec/OS 91
Viofan/OS 91
Viojett/ BVM 91

Thanks for your input-- Hal

It depends on how you define "best"
Cheapest?
Best buy?
Most reliable?
Prettiest?
I'm sure you will have the usual clique telling you to ONLY get the "brand name" stuff --the real difference only being that you'll pay twice as much. The OS and the Ramtec is a proven combination and a great buy, but you will want to make sure the fan and everything will fit for your application.

HalH,

I have not compared in actual tests but I went through this research in the past couple of years in selecting my combination.

It depends on the airframe that you will be installing the unit into. It is my impression that the OS 91/ Ramtec and Dynamax are very equivalent. The Dynamax may give a little better static thrust than the Ramtec I am told. The BVM combo tends to be highly regarded but very expensive.

I believe from my research and my application that the BVM would rank #1, Dynamax #2, and Ramtec #3 . I did not feel that the percentage of greater power that the BVM provided was affordable to my working budget. If it was, that is what I would be installing now instead of the Dynamax.

In any case, if the combination is not set up correctly with the inlet and outlet area configured for optimal thrust and attention to the airflow through the ductwork, you can really rob the efficiency of the system and wind up with poor performance.

Hope this helps,

Kaos1

Whaddya puttin' it in? I was always under the impression thet the Viojett/BVM-91/96 would be the strongest- (?)

How come no-one mentioned a Rossi-105? :)

RE: Fan Performance

i'll mention it:D

rossi 105 and hurricane.

rossi 105 and OS91 have completely different power curves and hence the OS91 outclasses the rossi at lower revs..
whack an OS optimised fan on the rossi and it wont rev up anywhere near it's claimed max output...

now- pure speculation and based on the claimed specs of rossi- put a hurricane on it so that it doesnt load the engine up at the lower revs and you'll have the best of class at 28-30k revs... 14+ lb thrust.

how 'bout them apples?

i cant help myself about this rossi thing....:(

Hal
Spoil yourself this holiday season.... Get the Viofan/viojett-bvm .91 with pipe pressure if you want to go fast. Get the viofan- BVM .96 if it's bigger or scale.
