Yesterday had my first 2 flights with my Facet 1200,
Awesome !! Slow, perfect landings with full flaps and unlimited vertical, even with full fuel tanks.
Color scheme is not very original (sorry George!) but very effective.
Simjet 1200SP , weight: 12 lb, Trim wheels & brakes
Did exactly what it's designed for, our grass field is short and bumpy, no problem for the Facet.

Thanks guys,
It's the standard nose gear that comes with the kit,
I just rounded off the fork a bit and put some heat-shrink around it to keep the dust out.

Nice work. I swiped one of your photos for inspiration :D Slinging the moneycoat on mine now ... wx permitting, it should be flyable in a couple of weeks.

Viper, Looks GREAT! I can hardly take credit for the scheme, but like you said, it is effective and it works well. I'm glad everything went as advertised. How was top speed? Was it faster than you expected? Have you tried a snap? (HANG ON! :D)

You will find the airframe design to be very durable for those occasional mishaps too. If you have a stiff breeze (20 MPH, maybe) put full flaps down and slight power and it will hover, very impressive.

If all works out in the real near future, FJ 04 should bring a new Facet "surprise" ;).

Way to go and nice job.

Outstanding job !! Your craftsmenship is VERY evident in the photos.

As always, I'm pleased when the customer has achieved the intended results.

It appears you will be having a Happy and Prosporous New Year.

Nice work!

I must say, seeing all the various pics of Facets here on RCU is really firing me up to crack on and start mine.

Viper, roughly how long did it take you to build and finish?

Thank you all for the positive replies...

George:
I tried a mix between yours and a bit of the Edwards based chase planes color schemes.
Top speed was more than I expected, scary for a "turbine virgin" to be honest, out of sight in no-time.
Didn't try snaps (yet) not sure if the wing tube can handle that? I'm trying to fly within the structural limits of the plane.
I did a -unintentional- tail slide, in which I feared a flame out, but she handled it well.
That new Facet surprise (twin?) should be great. (did see some pics in another thread)

Kerry;
Reactions at the field were also very positive, Personally I just don't like the "kangaroo" -delta variations. doesn't look like a plane. While I was building the most asked question was; "You reckon the field is long enough?" - that question is answered...

StuartJJ;
About 6 -to 8 weeks, that's working on it almost every night after work, and full days in the weekends, sometimes into the "small" hours. Including making a FG fuel tank because I couldn't get the Sullivan tank.
It can be done quicker, I made extra work from the hinging as well.

Thanks again guys,
Gert

Gert, not to worry, if you built it as per instructions and plans, it will take ANYTHING you can throw at it. Ask those that have seen me fly mine-CRAZY snaps. I questioned the ability of the airframe to handle such violent manuevers when I first began, but it has perservered.

BTW, Kevin is the one with the twin, although I do not know if it will be ready for FJ. My surprise will be sporting a "new look" ;) (hopefully).
