pulse jet plans

A few years back in the rc plane mags. there was an ad for jet engine plans [pulse jet] that used an aerosol can for the combustion chamber and used regular gas for fuel, I think they had plans for a 3 and 7 pound thrust model... does anyone have these plans or know where I can get them? Any help would be great, thanks.

That would be great! I'm not much of a builder either thats why I wanted these plans, they say anyone can build one with no special tools.

Who am I kidding, I can't build that  but thanks anyway. It would be nice to get the easy ones though.

bfk,
Would it be possible for me to get a copy of those plans? That would be so cool!:D:D:D:D

This is my email if you can:

I was at a jet fly-in in Madras, OR today and saw a plane with twin pulse-jet engines flying. It was called the Double Whammy and was pretty incredible. It was by far and away the loudest model i've ever heard and am ever likely to hear. It was probably louder than many full scale planes (conventional, not jets). There was no throttle control and the pilot cut the fuel and deadsticked the best landing of the whole show. Truly an excellent and impressive flight. It was a cool plane but i would imagine you would have a very difficult time finding places to fly it due to the incredible noise. Personally, i thought the sound (both its uniqueness and magnitude) was very cool.

It was also the first time i'd seen a turbine powered plane, they were actually very quiet, very cool sounding, but not very loud. For that matter it was the first time i'd seen ducted fans too. I didn't like them very much. They sounded like the motor was going to explode at any second. Maybe it's because i was spoiled by having heard the turbine first, but the ducted fan sound ruined the whole scale appearance to me.

Did anyone ever manager to find these plans, or was it just an urban myth?

what i got wasn't what i wanted and to be honest i would be hard pressed to find them here. they were not "technical" drawings but a drafting type drawing that showed the engine but nothing you could use to build one. i contacted the company and the price scared me to death. the plane that they recommend is close to 2 grand by itself........
tis not a myth but it is beyond belief!!!!

I did have those plans, they were not all that good and certainly not as easy tomake as the ad suggested. I had them on a CD which I sent to another guy, and he said it didnt work for him... Oh well you guys arent missing much.

Plans for many pulse jets are available on the internet, many on European sites where the pulse jet action still exists. The only problem, you have to be decent at sheet metal work and tig welding to make one up, and a lathe is necessary for the head. The one you guys are talkign about (using the spray can) used spring steel feeler guage stock for the reed petals. If you look online, you will probably come across a scanned image of the plans. Thats where my burned CD came from, all stuff on line. Lost interest after I went turbine...

Thanks.

I have built several Pulsejets (BMS, Dyna type and one of my own design that was underpowered and ran really crappy), plus a KJ66, FD3/64 and some liquid fueled rockets. Right now, I'm busy building a Cri Cri :)
I have a Lincoln Square Wave TIG 175, but am looking for a good used Sherline, Grizzly, Emco, Unimat or similar mini lathe. Ahhh, only to be rich right?...
Thanks for the info though...

There's a simple, easy-to-build pulsejet design being documented at http://aardvark.co.nz/pjet/noweld.shtml

Requires just a few hand-tools to build, no welding, no machining at all.

Probably not much good for models but if you just want to enjoy the pulsejet experience it could be a simple project.
