BD-5J kit which one
1 Attachment(s)
Can someone here tell me which kit this is, if it is not the Byron. The only thing I can find on the construction manual is TNT Hobbies. I was told it isn't the Byron. I need to find some information on this plane.

RE: BD-5J kit which one
Thanks Bob.
What is the difference between the Jetmartusa and the Byron? |
RE: BD-5J kit which one
SPAD,
You got me on that one. I just knew that Jetmart had a BD-5J kit and it looks simplar to this one. I don't know anything more than that, sorry! :( Bob |
RE: BD-5J kit which one
i think the byron has some type of cheater hole...in the canopy or someplace. That is probabbly one way to tell. There is a byron forsale here check it out

RE: BD-5J kit which one
Its not the Byron. The Byron has spring loaded doors on each side and a removable oval panel on the bottom.
Also the hatch cover is not that large. Gary |
RE: BD-5J kit which one
Thanks for all the info. I now know this is a Jetmartusa kit. Jetmartusa still sell this kit for $550. I think it looks alot better than the Byron kit. It looks just like the real plane. The byron kit doesn't appear to have a canopy. Thanks for all the help now I can sell it and be able to tell people what kit it is.

RE: BD-5J kit which one
I got the traplet Pulications "Fanfare" Ducted fan video. Filmed back round '89 i think (quite old)
But the BD-5J is on there. Don't know which kit may have been a prototype, but looks interesting. Also had a very effective reverse thrust "eyelid" tailcone. |
RE: BD-5J kit which one
I think its the Byron that has the thrust reverser. Correct me if im wrong.

RE: BD-5J kit which one
Definately a Jet Mart kit....Was designed by a guy in Texas---I believe one of the Austin gang. Excellent flyer with DF power. Would be fantastic with a small turbine!!! This BD-5J is smaller than the Byron. Another dead give away that it's not a Byron is that yours is molded from an epoxy resin----All Byron kits were polyester. Have fun with it and keep us posted!!!

RE: BD-5J kit which one
I used to have one. This airplane would be perfect with the 12lb'ers that keep popping up. Mine flew well on a 91, but climb out was scarry, you had to go a long way out before attempting a turn. But once it built up speed it was great. I put twenty flights or so on it before I sold it to a guy in yankeeland. I was having problems with hard landings, popped the gear through the wings and at the time did not have the skills to properly fix it. Oh, and the canopy blew off it so make sure you've got that sucker locked on good.

I am building a Jet-Mart kit right now for my winter project. Yours is definitely a JM kit. If you would like to contact my e-mail I could give you some specifics of mine.
[email protected] The plane is actually farther along than what this picture shows. I'll be posting more updated pics shortly showing turbine and pipe install. Power will be a TJT 2000 Demon. Myles |
