Robart C-clip source
 

Does anyone have a source for the C-clips that hold the pivot block shaft in the 630's? I had to reverse the direction of my main gear for the Gripen and when replacing the C-clips, they sprung their way into the void somewhere. So I need replacements and Robart seems to only want to sell me a $10 gear service kit.

I buy most of my clips from Ace Hardware & OSH.

BTW, if you are taking the clips off or putting them on without having spares immediately to hand, then you may want to use the following trick: get a 1 gallon Ziploc bag and put that over the entire assembly, then put your hand inside the bag to work on the gear. Since the bag is totally seethrough you should still be able to work inside it quite easily, and if the clip shoots off the axle it will be caught inside the bag for easy retrieval.

I maybe wrong, but just to be correct when you go into the harware store, aren't they called "E" clips?

get a big magnet and drag it accross your workshop floor. That's how I find mine.

Hello Ron, yep your right, they are called "E" clips. We normally give Doug a little lee-way here as his thought process is very slow due to the amount of IMAC he flies.

Of course hte core of us in California are waiting for the slow to fall down in the depth's of h$ll as we await to see Doug with "HIS" own personal jet.

Doug go to Marshal's Hardware they've got C-clips in every size imaginable. .06 cents if I remember correctly.

I had one take off at the flying field one time and could not find it. I shoved a piece of 4/40 wire in there and bent it so the wire would not fall out. Yup, its still there 6months later and working fine!!

As for my own jet. Why? When I have yours to fly anytime I want?

Oh.. and they're C clips.. not E clips on the main gear pivot shaft. There IS a difference. I guess they didn't let you play with the 'important' parts of airplanes in the USAF eh John?

Yea, yea, yea, you got me on hte slow fall, had the wife talking to me at the same time. I am guessing you are about to enjoy that aspect in life.

They only let me run the engines on those high dollar fighters, I was too smart to work on them, I could spell my name 4 out of 7 times.

And the fee is going up on jet redntals buddy, you still owe for the Arizona fun you had. Interest is like the Euro, it goes up EVERY DAY!!!!!!!!

I thought they were called "E" clips. The E stands for Escape :D

Drill & tap the end of the axle. 2-56 or 4-40 depending on diameter, and lock-tite a Allen head cap screw with appropriate washers. Never worry about them coming off again.
