BVM Mixture Control Question
Does the BVM Inflight Mixture Control valve have enough range to be used as a fuel shut off?
Thanks, Scott |
RE: BVM Mixture Control Question
No it doesn't. And leaning the engine out to kill it is a very bad idea.

RE: BVM Mixture Control Question
I am installing a BVM inflight control on my OS 91/Dynamax and would handle this like I do with all of my other R/C planes, adjust the carb/servo so that the throttle trim tab closes the carb.

RE: BVM Mixture Control Question
This isn't going on an application that has an R/C carb. It would have to work as a fuel shutoff.
|
RE: BVM Mixture Control Question
If you set it up the right way then try to use it to stop the engine by closing it all the way with the servo you only will end up with a lean engine.
what you are looking for is a way how to complete shot off the fuel flow, you could use a servo for that in a different way. CARS II |
RE: BVM Mixture Control Question
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think RC Thumbs has a fuel shut-off for a turbine in mind...?
|
RE: BVM Mixture Control Question
........no, not for a turbine. 2-Stroke IC. I'm looking for an inflight mixture control that has enough range that it will shut off the fuel supply in addition to adjusting the mixture. One servo, one device.
The two inflight mixture controls out there that are the most popular are the BVM and the JMP. I have already talked with Mr. Cook on the JMP. Any suggestions on servo opperated fuel cutoffs? |
RE: BVM Mixture Control Question
Use the mixture to control flow and attach a simple rod with a "J" to the same servo so when the mixture is full lean the "J" pinches the line closed. Just like on the F1 planes.

Thanks Mark, that sounds like it would work great.
I did find a fuel shutoff/mixture control device from Fourmost #142. Anyone have experience with this product? |
RE: BVM Mixture Control Question
Perry makes a valve to turn smoke systems off & on that should do what you want. Check it out at
