Turbines
Hello I just ran my first turbine today on a bench and wooooooooo.
The person who designed those things have a little too much time on their hands. :) I have seen them run quite a few times at meets but its different especially when the power is in your hands. Awsome !! It runs @ 24lbs thrust full throttle and wanted to take my bench away My bench is 6* 4 (*feet) When i first went to half throttle it was moving the bench The engine is going on a kangaroo I am thinking on detuning that engine. I weigh 140 lbs and i belive it can take off with me in a glider very easliy. Why turbines have to be so powerful ?? |
RE: Turbines
Hey glad to hear it. There is nothing quite like the first time you start a turbine like that. Hope the airplane building goes well and let us know when you get those first flights!!!

RE: Turbines
The question is why not have all the power you can get...... your only job is then learning how to harness that power, and put it to good use. With my Bob Cat I like to do touch and goes, touch and goes on relatively short runways requires good preplaning and as much extra reliable power as you can get. Straight up climb outs after a 25 - 30 takeoff rolls, also require raw power. If you've ever flown a high wing loaded D/F powered Jet model from a high altitude Field on a hot summer day you'll really come to appreciate having all the power you can get.

RE: Turbines
Only one thing stopping me from putting that turbine on my back is that heat exhaust
