8411 ?

Hi Guys. I am building a new Jet and going to use 8411's. What is the better of the two? The ones with metal gears or the ones with composite gears? Just looking for some feedback.Thank's in advance Jack. :)

Luv2Flyrc2,
Use the metal gear 8411,s-pack them with vasoline-(the gears)-makes them tight as a full scale actuator.

8411SA

What is the difference between 8411sa and the 8411 servos?

The Gears....8411 is metal gear and 8411SA is nylon gear train except for output gear

8411SA

Hi todd. is the 8411SA the ones Curtis Youngblood uses on his chopers? And is there any advantage that they might have with use on jets?

lov2flyrc 06-19-2002 12:20 PM

8411 ?

Yes....these are the same servos Curtis is using. The 8411 is known to be a bit sloppy in the gear train due to the clearance required with metal gears. Since the SA version has nylon gears there is virtually no gear lash but as the cost of output torque the gear train is capable of handling. Although there is a bit of lash on the 8411, I have never had a problem with them nor have I heard of anyone fluttering one because of the lash. Guess it's just a matter of application and personal preference as to which version you would use on a jet. IMHO....No, there is no real advantage to the SA for jet application except they are slightly cheaper than the standard 8411.

Hitec Digital Servos

Just throwing this out there! Has anybody used the new Hitec digitals in their jet yet? They have been real successful with the giant scale group; some pilots are even switching from the 8411 due to their programmability.

Please advise...

Any discounts for list members?

Discounts

I would have to say that Hitec Products are already sold at a discount; they are, by far, the best value in the hobby market!

So, yes, to answer you question.

Mike,

I have been playing a bit with the new Hitec Digi's for a few weeks now. I have to agree, the programability of them is a plus and they do seem to be as good if not better than the JR's. Gear train is much tighter than the 8411's. Dependability is the big question, if they continue to work I am sold on them. I have been testing two of them in my 1/3 scale weeks solution X (on ailerons) before attempting to use them in my turbines.

Mitchell,

Do you not check all of your primary flight control servos in an expendable airplane before putting them in an expensive plane? Or at the very least put them on a servociser? I would be interested to hear about the problems that you had with Horizon service, I have had really good service from them and have a gyro back there right now that had a problem. They have ALWAYS either repaired or replaced servos, etc... that have been defective. You slammed a product and a manufacturer without telling us the whole story.

To the orginal poster, I have over 25 of the 8411's in various planes and have never had a hiccup out of them. They have been very good and reliable servos for me. I will likely try the 8411sa on an upcoming project.

Besides who made a smart ass comment anyway?

Mike,

How about telling us what the advantages would be. In the past some Hitec servos were less than desirable in our application. It would also be interesting to hear what turn around time is in the event of a problem, also where they are serviced. Does Hitec even make a high end radio system comparable to the JR 10X or Futaba 9C?

um.. whats up with mitchells edited posts? did he say something he regrets?

No I did not say anything I regret. What I said was what happened in my situation. It seems that others that have not had problems want to start a conflict over the facts. I do not want to be any part of it so the post was deleted.

Mitchell I had no intention of starting a conflict if you took it that way sorry. I always fly my primary control surface servos in a cheapo plane if I can.

GelCel,

Very funny! Some of the best stuff I've seen in a while on this forum. Wish I was that clever!

Jets Unlimited,

Revenge? Is that the jet in your avatar? Would love to see a bigger picture of it!
