RE: Time for the Eagle to step down.
But then there's the issue that Congress doesn't want to pay for more than a couple and the flight control system is based on the long outdated i960 processor, etc., etc. The Eagle may not be the top of the pyramid anymore, but its going to be around for a long time, I'd bet! Heck, some guys are still working on updating that old war horse the A10! At least I've heard that, but I'm not sure its true...

RE: Time for the Eagle to step down.
The F-15E is still in production. In addition, South Korea has recently bought 40 F-15Ks, the first of which is yet to be delivered. The Korean purchase was a win for the F-15 in head-to-head competition with the Rafale, the Eurofighter Typhoon, and the Russian Sukhoi SU-37(?). The Air Force approached Boeing late last year for pricing information on a potential future buy of F-15Es.

Is anyone making a good F-15E kit. All the molds I see are for earlier variants. Would love to have a really scale version of the E.
