Behotech Flame Out!!!!!
Hello to all,
This is my first post, I think this site is a great Idea and love it so far... Ok I am from Hyderabad India, and we are big time into Rc and got into Jets Just last Year. We have done 50flts so far on the Kangaroo. On the 50th Flt we had a Flame out on the Behotech.... Which resulted in a crash as we could not make it back too the Strip.. My Question is What could have caused the Flame out?? as the engine was runnning like a dream. We were just 3mins into the flt when We had the flame out. Looking foward to some answers.. P.S We have another Kangaroo and 2 F15's from Skymaster. Happy Landings Mars |

RE: Behotech Flame Out!!!!!
Hello Mars
First off sorry to hear about your Roo. I hope the damage was not too bad. For the flame out. Just a couple of common things that I have experienced or have seen. 1. Bubbles. You will see a light Smokey trail out the back of the turbine as fuel is ejected out the back before the ECU shuts down the flow of fuel. a. Mostly seen in a new airplane or just put in a new UAT and did not get all the air bubbles out. b. Holes or leaking fittings. Festo type fittings on the vacuum side for instance may leek air occasionally especially after a few hours of run time. They are designed for pressure not vacuum. I have used Nylon or aluminum T fittings or brass tube on the vacuum side of the fuel system with stainless steel safety wire wrapped around the fitting for extra sealing. 2. Failsafe. Usually no smoke at all due to the ECU doing the shutdown. a. Battery voltage too low digital servos drawing too many amps. a. Radio interference; do a partial power range check. Hope this helps. |
RE: Behotech Flame Out!!!!!
Mars, its got to be the lack of a header tank... Like I advised you last week, please get a header tank like the BVM UAT...Its a life saver (read: plane saver) :)

RE: Behotech Flame Out!!!!!
Hi Mars
Sorry to hear you crashed you Roo! Air is normally the major cause of flame-outs. Check all the fuel pipes and as a few have said, some sort of air trap is required in your installation. Obviously it is puzzleingt that you had 50 trouble free flights before that. Pump voltage, interference, etc are really low possibilities. Remember that your pump is sucking big time at full throttle and any little air leak will be disaterous. Sometime filler valves can also cause air in the system. Good luck Zane |
