Hello anyone had a deadstick landing on a roo


If so what was the flight characteristics ?

Did it glide or you have to point the nose and find the runway fast ?

I had the motor shut off on my Rookie once. I don't know about the glide to much because I was slow and on final with the gear down. In that configuration it didn't glide to well, but I think when it is on step it should give you a little time to find a place to land. Fly the flane and pull the throttle to idle. You still make thrust at idle but you will be really suprised on how long it will glide there. Or you can get the plane moving a little and shut the motor off... let me know how it goes!:D

I've had two...both due to an over-temp/density altitude probelm. Glides well, just put it at the same spot in the sky that you would under power with the same visual speed, and you'll make the runway.........but it does do bad things to ones blood pressure!

The answer depends on what condition the plane is in when the
engine quite. If you just took off and are loaded with fuel and
smoke, chances are you will never make it back to the run
way, yes it will glide, down fast. If you have altitude when it
quits then you have plenty of time to bring it back. You must
remember that all Deltas will tend to pich up on loss of
power, bleeding off air speed, so you must get the nose
down first and then fly the plane to the ground above the
stall speed. If you do this and avoid the trees, buildings, fences
and all other things that pop up on the way down, you will
have it made. Some of my best landings have been dead
stick!!!!!!!! Also my worst crashes.
