Yes, but I'm not making them any more -- I got deeply overcommitted when I underestimated the demand for such things. I was spending 10 hours a day just building kits when it was supposed to be a *small* part of my business.

I'm still slowly catching up on the backorders :-(

If you're still unable to find a supplier, you could always build your own.

I've published the instructions for building this engine from readily available materials with a total cost of about $20 (see picture) and using nothing more than regular handtools (see picture) such as a hacksaw, files, screwdrivers, electric drill, etc.

If you can get thin enough tubing for the tailpipe then it could be used for powering a model.

The best model-size pulsejets available today are made by Earl Bailey in Houston, Texas. The engine is a Dynajet clone, but manufactured to a much higher standard and reasonably priced. He did have trouble supplying them for several years, but I believe that is all behind him now. Sorry, no web presence, but here is his contact info:

Bailey Machine Service

Houston, TX 77091

BTW, here's a link to an interesting pulsejet model ;)

There aren't many suppliers of pulsejet engines and I hear that Earl's engines are very nicely made but they might be ousted from "best" by the Zanins coming out of Italy. However, I would say that Earl's represent *much* better value than the Zannin which have an unearthly high price-tag.

Whose model would that be then? :-)

thats bollocks, it is definatly allowed!!!, im almost 100% sure of it!,
and i remeber reading something about it while learning for my A

READ THE BMFA HANDBOOK!;)

RE: Pulse Jets

Put it this way, it's not illegal but the BMFA insurance will not cover this type of powered model. At least it never used too when I got mine.
Your other problem is the noise. Not everyone likes em ;)

Tony

Zanin Z-23 RC is by far the best engine. Robust, reliable and easy to start and run. Designed with RC in mind and can cope with positive and negative manouvers due to the design of the built in hopper tank system. Lots of these engines available second hand for about £100 ish.

Pulse Jets are certainly not banned from the UK! You will need specific permission from your insurer and national body though to make sure you are covered. Choice of flying site needs the most consideration, these are noisy engines and will upset even the most understanding of neighbors! Have you flown jets or ultra highspeed models before? Do you have a reliable team of people to get the start sequence right everytime? Just a few questions to consider!

Have fun,

Steve

Seeing how this thread has been revived, I should report the sad news that Earl Bailey recently passed away. The company tells me they will fill existing orders, but not take any new orders. An existing employee may take over pulsejet production, but that's still up in the air.

Steve, there is only one word for your Aurora: AWESOME!!! :D
