I was thinking about a ducted fan Aermacchi but now I am leaning to a Cermark Viper Jet with a JetCat P120. What do you guys think?

One of my friends here flies one. It is a good flying plane! Some of the early ones had some problems with the wing (I think). Get it from Tam at Tamjets and you will not have any problems.

I'm agree 100% that the Viper is the Best choise.
I used to have one, and waiting for the second...;)
Is and excelent and stable jet, and with the P-120 it fly VERY fast...

Installing an smoke system is not a problem
Mine had one.
I made my onw system using preasurerize air at 80PSI....much more effiency than using a pump.

berthoud, my guess is that the viper jet would be grass capable on a p120 but i'm not sure

Since you need to use botles (tanks) that can handle 80PSI without blowing appart, I use 2 small 8.5 Oz soda botles located right on to of the main former at the fuselage.
This system needs less fluid to generate more smoke than the traditional pump way...it acts as an powerfull sprayer.

The Viper can take of of grass with the P-120. I'll recomend you to used 2 1/2 nose wheel instead of 2 1/4" and using 15% fo flaps will help too.

Some where in the forum there's a afew pictures of the job I did....promise you'll like it.

I beleave Tam is in Chinas now working on the final details of the new Vipers. He told me they will be available late July...or June, not sure.
Anyway, don't go cracy and way for the Viper. Don't go with another jet...unless you are willing to spend more money.

The new Viper is comming with the same color scheeme we all know, but also is suppose to come in full white so you can make your own finishing. Not sure if other color are going to be available.
Tam told me the new vertion will also have internal "H beam" spars. Also all control surfases will use regular pivot point hinges, the aluminum wing spars are longer and another big change is that now it will come ready to use off set struts without the need of bending them aft....beleave me, this is important.
The instruction now will show you as an option how to make the speed brakes and they will come already marked at the fuselage for cutting purpose.

I would like to propose Tam a VIPERJET for a P-160, with more scale details. No pictures show you how beatifull this jet is, until you got the chance to see it in person.

Thanks for letting me know. I really liked the detail in your Viper. Do you know when the new Viper will be available? I like your idea about a Viper for the p160, I'd get one right away. What I want to do is build my viper and get it ready to fly, but not fly it until I am ready. Do you think that I should do this or will temptation win me over:)? Gary

The Viper is trainer, is not dificult to fly at all.
It was my first turbine and first jet.
Is very stable and predictable. Not any bad tendency, and stall speed is very low...about 20 ~ 25 MPH
Just make sure when landing to keep allways the jet level, not with the nose up. If you get to see the botton of the jet is because your nose is up. Then Flair when you are about 4 to 6 feet of the ground for a perfect 2 point landing.
Flaps are very important here, and speed brakes help you to decrease speed without cutting power....
What planes are you actually flying?

Hey Miguel. Right now I have a fleet of Yellow Aircraft International planes. I have a Yellow f-4E Phantom ll with a bvm 96 powering a Viojett. In most of my planes i use The bvm 96 and Viojett combo. I also have a Yellow F/A-18 Hornet, and a Yellow F-16C Falcon, again with the bvm 96 and viojett. I aslo have a prop jet which is a Great Planes F-14 Tomcat with a O.S 91. So, the reason why I want the Viper is because I want to get into turbines and I want to have a plane that is bigger than what I am flying now. What else are you flying? Gary.

The way I see you are more that capable to fly the Viper or any other jet.
I decided just to fly turbine, and now I'm selling all my props planes.
I know at the end you'll probably do the same....Ducted Fan Sucks!:D;)
At this moment I'm building an Eurospot, bud decided to sell it because despite it flies extreamlly well, is not and ARF, is a KIT that come painted, and need some mods....
I'm consiring to order the big F-18 from Y/A....

Miguel, Thank you for all your help. I am now definitely going to get a Viper a soon as I can. The Y/A big F-18 is a beautiful plane and I was actually considering it but it is a little to big and advanced for me right now. Maybe I'll stick to my Viper for a while:). Although I think that it would make a great second jet for me or anybody. What would you power it with?...A P160? Go ahead and get one so I know weather to get one or not...LOL:D. One more question. I use a Futaba 9CAP and will I have to do a couple of mixes for my Viper? I want to put flaps, brakes, speed barkes, and of course retracts. Also, what do you think about lights on the Viper:eek:?...Oh one more thing (these one more things never stop:D). How are your nose wheel retract doors hooked up. Do you use a separate channel to bring them up and down or are they on the same channel as the retracts themselves. How do you have that worked? How do you start up your turbine, do you start it by doing someting to the ECU or something on the transmitter, how do you start and stop it?

It is powered by a SimJet 3000 rated at ~14 kg thrust. It is very fast indeed. I am a little concerned about over-speeding the airframe, so I only use full power for verticals.

The Viper handles very good. Landings are relatively slow and steady. However, IMO nothing beats the Kangaroo/ Rookie as a first jet/ jet-trainer. They can take a lot of abuse (read bad landings). Simple delta setup, never drops a wing, really solid gear mounts, all landing gears in the fuse etc., plus cheap parts if you smash a wing etc, + that you don't have to wait a year to get the parts.

I am using Skymaster retracts and struts. Bought them along with the plane when Skymaster was selling them.

I guess the scenery is as far away as possible from what you got over there in sunny Caribbean. Let's just say that cooling is not a problem here in the winter.
When it is really cold, some people bring with them hot water on a thermal bottle(?), and then pour it over the glow engines to get them to start more easily...[&:]
