Postal errors!!?
Hi.
I have major problem to post a reply on this site.. It almost happens every time when I have made a great deal of effort to write my very poor English, lets say for longer than 15- 20 minutes. It goes in the famous SFA method (Search Find Attack), or even better: The Eagle method: Sirkle over the pray (keyboard) until you find the object to attack, then strike. Very irritating indeed, as I`m to pissed to do it again.[:@] I use the cable net as connection, and a wireless transmitter called D-Link in my computer. Any one whit the similar problems, and what was your solution???? Regards Gudmund |
RE: Postal errors!!?
?What do you mean it goes into look, search, find or the eagle method?

RE: Postal errors!!?
Not sure about your terminology, myself... but if you mean you lose your nice big post,
you may want to consider writing all your posts and replies in notepad or something first. Either that or... every five minutes or so, select all, copy, and paste into notepad. It'll save a ton of frustration, on those rare occasions a post does get dumped before or during posting :) |
RE: Postal errors!!?
I have been in your shoes SEVERAL times. To stop this, I have learned to use the edit feature of your operating system and make a copy of the post, then if you try to post the original and it gets dumped you can very easily repaste it to the post area again and post it fast. Doing this has never failed yet. Nothing worse then spending 30 minutes to type out instructions for something to someone only to have it dumped due to it taking too long to type. Never again!! ;) give it a shot [8D]

RE: Postal errors!!?
Yes, hit CTRL "A" and then CTRL "C" to copy all of you message in case it disappears. If it does post a new message and then press Ctrl "V" and it will past your old text back in.
Of course if you are not using Windows..... |
RE: Postal errors!!?
There I go again...
It should have been written: I write in the, instead of: It goes in the. Smart advices, I`ll use them. Thanks to all. Regards Gudmund |
RE: Postal errors!!?
Try this...Check your internet parameters----Look at the time out setting that you have set to log off due to inactivity. Even though you are typing away you are stalled on that particular page. The computer thinks that you have abandoned it and will disconnect your connection due to inactivity even though your are typing madly away. Look at the little icon that look like two computers at the lower part of your screen....If they aren't flashing away then the computer connection is in an idle mode. They flash when active.
To fix it, try this......Right click on your internet connection and left click on "Properties". Next, left click on "Dialing". Look at the time out properties (Idle Enable Disconnect) and increase it as you wish...in my system I have it maxed out at 59 minutes....Of course all of this is for MS Windows. You can also adjust the log off parameters if the connection becomes too slow as compared to the initial connection speed. Hope this helps---Kevin |

Hi Kevin.
Thanks alot. You had the answer, and the problem is solved! Regards Gudmund |
RE: Postal errors!!?
ORIGINAL: Gudmund Malones It goes in the famous SFA method (Searsh Find Attack), or even better: The Eagle method: Sircle over the pray (keyboard) until you find the object to attack, then strike. I finally realized what you were saying in that part of your post. That method of typing is most often called, "hunt and peck", around here. I like your "Eagle method" description, however :D |
RE: Postal errors!!?
I have a similar issue, maybe someone can fix. Sometimes, when sending someone a PM here on R/C U, I'll type out the message (this does not seem to be a time-out as it happens if it is a short or a long message) and send it and Explorer crashes (or at least the one small message window). It never happens when I am replying to a thread, as I am right now, only on a PM. It happens about 20% of the time. I have taken to Cntrl C-ing everything in a PM just because its a hassle to re-type. Anyone else having this issue? Any ideas what can be done about it?
Thanks. |

Of course if you are not using Windows..... I guess I have to deal with this at this site. Remember, I type with the Eagle method, SFA: Sirkle, Find and Attack! All the best Gudmund |
