Prop to DF conversion

I recently acquired a 90% complete Combat Models F-16N. It has a YS .61 RE. I do not find this setup very scale like at all. I will convert this thing to DF. I am wondering if anyone has any thoughts about what would be the best suited engine and fan to go with. I am not real familiar with the different breeds of fan's and DF engines.
Thanks

From all accounts that I have read, The CBM F-16 should stay a prop. Although they state it is possible to upgrade to DF fan power, in reality it is not really suited for DF.

I think it could be done, maybe with a Turbax1 and a .46. However, there would be alot of effort involved and many opportunities to make the thing way too heavy to fly or to leave it way too weak. If you are a scratch builder, you could consider it a 3-d plan to use as a start, but nowhere near a finished airplane. You'd need to consider structure, access panels, ducting, to name a few. Get one wrong and you've got a lemon.

I've allways thought the CBM would be a good starting point to "scratch" build an F-16 XL.

Weight and strength would be the biggest obstacle. keep in mind that you would also need to completely fuel proof the inside of the jet considering it's all foam. I would personally fly it as a pusher and get used to the feel of it and while flying that build a Y/A F16. I've seen some of those kits go pretty cheap in the last little while :)

Yes, You are all correct. After going over the plane last night and checking clearances & structural integrity I would be better off keeping it a prop. It currently has a pumped Rossi .68 2-stroke w/pipe turning a 10x7 prop. I think it will preform ok with that. Thanks for the input.
