Ampcat / Bob-E-Cat Plans
I was looking at the Ampcat (aka the Bob-E-Cat) construction overview article over on eZoneMag. How/where does one get plans for this great looking little EDF (or did I miss something while at eZoneMag?).
Otherwise, I understand EJets (the deal Doug C. is involved with?) will have 3 EDF sizes in kit form some time soon but I'm interested in a scratch build. Thanks for any clues. Mike |

Mrmike what cad package are you using? I have tried Autosketch and design cad 2000 but both come up with errors

The drawings are saved in AutoCAD v14 format for easier distribution. Most 'average' users haven't upgraded to 2000 yet.

Mini-Bobcat kit
Doug,
In an earlier post you talked about kitting 3 different sizes of this jet. Do you have any new info yet? |
Ampcat / Bob-E-Cat Plans
Robert Wagner of the Electric Jet Factory is going to be kitting the design in 3 sizes.. he should have more info up on their website soon I'd think..

Sure would be cool with a .15 ducted fan or something!!

Raising the bar

After 3 Enforcers I'm not gonna start #4. I'm going to use a different airfoil, however - the one Bob Parks used on his SortaKhoi. I'm even gonna put BVM struts and wheels on it. This is not intended to "dis" anything about the 'Cat or its lineage - just an objective way of providing my wannabe turbine pals with a viable trainer - ByroCat. Mike Mike |

I would suggest you not kit it though Mike (not saying you are.. just covering the bases.. heh). I specifically asked BV's permission to do this with EJF.
The airfoils I used are just NACA's with a 63010 at the root, and a 63012 at the tip. Pretty basic stuff. -Doug |
No Kit
Doug, I understand the design ownership issues completely. This is my own freelance approach - period, dot with no underlying commercial motivation. The last thing I want to do is get cross-threaded with a mfgr over "design" rights. Even if I do get around to doing it, I'm doing a one-off jet that will probably never see the sky beyond a 60 mile radius of where I live.
Yes, the airfoils you used are basic stuff - and so are the ones Mr. Parks used but are more appropriate to our 6,800MSL flying locale. Mike |
Turbax I powered Cat
1 Attachment(s)
I had thoughts of a ByroCat ever since the BobCat came out. Looks like MRMIKE beat me to it. I did eventually draw up a KittyCat, a smaller BobCat like plane powered with a Turbax I. It could also be scaled up for a Dyanmax or Ramtec. If only I had enough time to build it.
