Kangaroo fuel tank problem

1 Attachment(s)
It's two steps forward and one back for my Kangaroo. I was making rapid progress and now I've stumbled across a problem.

I was testing the retracts today and apart from a little adjustment to the fuselage cut outs all was fine. This was until I tried it with the fuel tank installed. The tank is in the way so the mains won't fully retract. I am using a 2 litre 'pepsi' bottle and Graupner Retracts.

Has anyone else had this problem? Am I using the wrong bottle? What is the solution?

Thanks

also keep an eye on the fuel klunk when using the soft Tygon lines in the tank. If you have a rough landing it might double back, and stay there [8D]

Thanks SJN.

Do you have a picture of the front of the bottle? (I know it's difficult). All the bottles I see in the UK (coca cola included) are the same as the one I have. Your tank either sits further forward or is shorter than mine.

Cheers

Same problem, just get out your heat gun and heat the bottle up and it will shrink a little or just push it in a bit. Unfortunately you loose a bit of fuel. I have 2 16 oz tanks mounted either side of my main tank.

GOOD LUCK

Enjoy the ROO

Just got back from the supermarket. All the 2 Litre bottles are the same as mine. AAAHHHHH!!!!

If anyone in the UK knows where to get one that will fit please let me know otherwise I might have to buy an expensive Kevlar one and I really don't want to do that.

Bottle looks a bit longer than a standard 2 liter? I can send you one from the states :D

Make sure you safty wire both ends of your pickup line! Tygon tends to expand a tad when exposed to Kero, that clunk will fall off the end if you dont ;)

RE: Kangaroo fuel tank problem

I remember reading in an old RCJI review on the "Rookie" that the coca cola bottles in the states are slightly different. UK bottles are found to be taller and thinner. This will save multiple journeys to the shops trying to source one, hopefully the offer to send one over might be possible. It is worth while have good contacts on both side of the pond since many Jets items can sent over each way as "gifts" with no or little tax! This has been my experience from contacts in the US and Canada. If you really get stuck I'll ask my son to post one from Toronto. Even our VAT man will be stuck making a charge on a empty bottle of air.
