{UK JET NUTS}Bentwaters

Hi all,
I know there are a lot of UK jet guys on this Forum.Want to know if you would like to come and fly at new field.
Bentwaters is an old RAF,USAF,Airfield left over from the Cold War,and has got about 2 miles of new runway. It had just been relaid with new tarmac then the RAF sold up!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So we are trying to get Pilots together to fly there once a month.

ARE YOU INTERESTED?????????

Gents

Apologies for being off topic but, this is the right audience....I live in Fleet (near Farnborough) and, I am a member of the Fleet club and the club at RAF Odiham (they host an annual jet meet which, I have not yet managed to attend).

I would like to get into jet flying but don't know of anybody nearby that can help to get me started. I don't think that I would be doing myself any favours by trying to go it alone and, although I recently got my B cert, I feel that this is a bit like starting from scratch!

I am planning to have some trial flights with Paul Heckles and if that goes well, I want to jump in with both feet but don't know of any jet flyers / clubs with jets !

I would probably go the route of a used trainer to begin with (if I can find a good one) but also need somebody to help me make the right buy!

Can anybody put me in contact with the right people / club within a reasonable distance of where I live?

Any advice is appreciated.

Thanks

If you're going to have some trial flights with Paul then you'll be in good hands. I'm sure he can point you in the right direction and is (sort of) in your neck of the woods.

I attended this years event at RAF Odiham which is a very nice venue. It was run by Chris Gregory at the JMA although I believe that it wasn't a JMA event. The only thing which spoilt this years event was the strong crosswinds but we can't blame Chris for that. ;-)

My advise to you would be to join the Jet Modellers Association and come along to some of the events and get a feel for what is possible. Most of the trade guys are there as well so you can get some good info. Dave Wilshere always attends with about 12 models from the little Savex L39 to the BVM Kingcat and has been a great help to myself - you could just give him a call at Motors and Rotors.

I bought my first jet (Graupner Harpoon) from Dave Wilshere at the end of last year but I've only really been flying it on my own from this summer. I also bought a Savex L39 which has proven to be a massive hit with everyone that has bought one (and everyone seems to own one now, they're that good) - they're cheap as gas turbines go as you should be able to get into one for under 2500 quid including radio gear and the opinion seems to be that they actually make for a good jet-trainer.

Sorry to hijack the thread.

Phil

Hi,

The Swindon Club operate out of Wroughton Airfield, which isn't too far from you, and have many jet fliers who'll be only too willing to help. (Paul Heckles is a member, too!) Go to www.smac2000.org for more details or pm me.

Cheers,

Right at last. I have it fixed to 8 pilots from my lot that want to attend. What do you want me to do now. Do you need some form of payment?
