Answer the Question / Ask a new question - Game

Ok, things have gotten pretty boring around here. How about a game? First you answer the question from the previous post, then you can ask a question. The next person posting to this post must do the same (Answer the previous question and post a new one).
Let's keep the questions somewhat jet related and see if we can't pass around some good information.

Ok here it goes, I'll start this off....

Question: Describe a few things to check for while doing "Pre-flight" check at the field.

I'm gonna say: The very ugly, Ryan X-13 Vertijet?

Question: When the FMC goes into overspeed protection and lowers the MMO upper foot suddenly during flight, what could be the possible cause? [hint, its fuel system related]

Well, we are both correct Dan.

The X-13 was a "tail sitter" and made it's first complete cycle in 1957.

The X-14 was a Harrier type (conventional and VTOL), also first complete cycle in 1957.

Daytona... You can make checks out to both Dan & I, we will PM you our addresses.

You last two forgot to ask a question :)

Question: How much fuel does the smaller turbines ( like Wren 44) carry on-board and what is the typical flight time?

Well, as it turns out, my recollection was off a bit. The X-14 didn't do the full cycle until May '58, while the X-13 cycled in April '57.

Congrat's Dan, don't spend it all in one place.

The airplane made history on April 11, 1957, when it completed its first full-cycle flight at Edwards AFB, California. It took off vertically from its mobile trailer, rose into the air, nosed over into a level attitude, and flew for several minutes. It then reversed the procedure to vertical flight and slowly descended to its trailer for a safe landing.
I'll collect the $200 from you next time we fly. :D

50 oz Dubro tank is not uncommon..I'm guessing 8 or 9 minutes but won't know for sure until spring thaw...

My question: Has anyone ever experienced a turbine wheel throwing a blade, and if so, what was the result?

RE: Answer the Question / Ask a new question - Game

Answer: yes they have and the result was devastating!!! (Recent RCJI Y/A F15 review on an early KJ66 wheel).

Question: Why have the manufacturers stopped making Kevlar burst protection shrouds for the bypass units?

Can we work in British pounds for my next win though???
