Jet A fuel from planes
Is it OK to use the Jet A fuel that is discarded from jet aircraft fuel tanks when they come in for maintenance ? Tks

RE: Jet A fuel from planes
No problem at all! I fly on this from 1997, just make sure that the fuel is filtered before entering in the model. I use a large car fuel filter on my refueling rig. (also use of cource the standard fuel filters from the turbine in the model...)

Usually water is your biggest problem with discarded fuel. Most discarded fuel from a jet was pulled from the sumps, where the water accumulates. Make sure you filter it too because a lot of junk like tank sealant also tend to accumulate near the sumps.

I use it too, but it has more crud in it than out of a pump or barrel. Just get it filtered before it gets in your plane.

Any way to remove the water? I was thinking that since water will separate from the fuel and remain at the bottom of the storage tank , I could just let the fuel sit for 48 hrs and then drain any water that accumulates at the bottom of the tank . May there's too little water to remove this way in a 10 gallon storage tank ! I could add some Biobor to prevent fungi growth. Tks
