Lightning

Dear All
Here are some pics of our Mick Reeves Lightning.
Model has flown once, very nice in roll not quite so nice in pitch.
The model had to be landed gear up, as the gear would not lock down correctly.
Hopefully we have cured this now.
We are intending bringing it to the Bentwaters events once we are happy with it.
Regards Phil Goff.
PS. I attended the last ever Airshow at the base.

RE: Lightning

Hi,
Really nice! If the exchange rate ever comes down, I'd like to get one for next winter's project.
Any comments on the quality of the kit or problems building it? The Mick's landing gears seem to be a weak point, as I've noticed negative comments about them on various Hunter reviews. How do you think the gear would hold up flying off grass.
Thanks,
Jon

RE: Lightning

Dear Jon
Some parts of the kit, do not fit correctly they are not drastically wrong
but slightly. I have spoken to Mick Reeves about this and he is looking in to it.
I think he has found that his CNC machine for some reason is cutting slightly undersize.
Hopefully he will correct this. One thing I will say is that all his models fly well.
He lives about sixty miles from us, he wants to come to RAF Coltishall and see the
LIghtning the next time it flies. I would say that this model is not suitable for grass
operation. Although it will fly very slowly for such a large and quite heavy model.
I don't know if any of the Robart retracts will fit in it, if they will take that route.
Regards Phil Goff.
PS Have a merry Christmas.

Hi Phil,
I have seen one of Micks Lightenings fly and it seemed to be suffering from Dutch Roll. Did yours show this tendency at all?
Regards,

John.
