RCM Eagle V

Just wondering if anyone has built this turbine aircraft from the plans in the last RCM.

I have purchased the plans, but I'm still at the beginning stages of this project, trying to decide on how to equip it, etc. I was looking for someone else that might have already started!

Hey DUF1 have you started building yours yet? I have mine finished and test flew it this past weekend. I can tell you I'm not disappointed at all. It flies great. Takes off of our flat but somewhat rough 425 foot grass feild. Uses about 1/2 or 3/4 of the feild to take off and land with no air or wheel brakes. I'm flying it with my homebuilt wren 54 at around 11 lbs of thrust. It came out at slightly under 10 lbs without fuel. Go ahead and build yours, You will like it.

Hey, I never knew about this plane! :)
I like the looks of it! Bet it handles real good eh?
Excellent!
Hmm, I just took a look at the RCM website but I didn't see the plans listed on there?

RE: RCM Eagle V

I am building one of these now using the 14+ lb WREN kit turbine. I am mounting the elevator servos on the stab for very short pushrods and no flutter problems! Also added flap/airbrakes under the wings between the booms and the fuse. It goes together very well and has no big building challenges due to the nice plans. There is enough room to add a front canard like the new "rookie" ( hint) . As a backup, I'm having a kit laser cut" by PRECISION CUT KITS in N.J. This means that since they now have the plans "scanned" into their system, that anyone can call then and get a kit cut ( another hint). Building one of these does require a LOT of cutting on a small band or vibratory saw! but once the cut is done, building isn't too bad

Hi Guys,

I really like the look of this jet.
Will it accommodate a retract system and what is the wingspan ?

Thanks for the "hints", maybe the formers will be available for purchase soon.

Yeah, very nice.

Nice Job on the plane SASKTAG.

I wish that it was big enough for 17 pounds of thrust.

I second that, this plan is not listed anywhere on RCM website. Any suggestion ?

Thanks for the comments. Wingspan is just over 50" and wing area is 971 squares. Yes it is designed for retracts. I used an old set of rohms. Unfortanatly I don't have this aircraft anymore as I totalled it in a crash last summer. But I must say it was a good flyer.

Hi Sasktag & all,

Is this jet a one piece model, ie wing does NOT come off ?
One aileron per side, or are they split ?
And is it finished in Oracover etc or glass clothed ?

I've e-mailed for info on the RCM back issues, plans, and wood kit from Precision Cut Kits.

Thanks.

I just ordered my plans last night from RCM. You have to put the plan number in as it's not listed ( at least I didn't find it). Plan number 1340 $27.00 plus $8.00 for shipping rolled in tube.
Later...

Hi David,

Have you had any good experience with Kit Cutters ?
I happened to do a search for them here on RCU:

http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_28...tm.htm#2807830

Not good reading [:-]

I have no experience with "Kit Cutters". I just checked their website and they added this message.

ALL OF OUR KITS ARE LASER CUT

We are currently only accepting orders for formers, ribs and plans.

Our backlog of orders has become unacceptably large since we've are down to only one person cutting.

Full, short, and wing kits already ordered will be completed by the end of this year.

If you already have any order with us and do not wish to wait, simply send us an email with your intentions. E-mail: [email protected]

I could add the plan #1340 to my cart, but there was no way to add the magazine back issues ?
Did I miss something.

Hi guys. Photo copies of the building articles from both editions of the magazine are included with the plans. They do not need to be ordered seperatly.
