Tuned Pipe Question

I was wondering if some of you guys might be able to help me out. I am building kinda a speed heli. It will have a pipe timed (not sure of the actual duration, the exhaust port was raised about a mm) OS 61 SX-H (short stroke) spinning about 17k. I am looking for a good quiet pipe. I was thinking about a Bolly, but I can't find out who sells them. I guess they have been bought out. I wanted the carbon pipe so it would not make the heli too tail heavy. I like a long pipe as it keeps the heli very clean. Maybe you guys may know of a DF pipe that would work. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated!

Thanks
Alan Angus

GMP,
try Mac's mufflers - they have all kinds of DF pipes.

RE: Tuned Pipe Question

Go to heliproze web site
Look for a weaston mini tuned pipe or a muscle pipe V-1 for the os.
also remember to gear the heli to what you are wanting to do.

RE: Tuned Pipe Question

Hi Alan. I have used BVM pipes on various sport engines in the past with good results. They are very quiet and not finicky with distance from engine, seem to have a vary broad rpm range as well. DF's are a dying breed (too bad) but a lot of advances in engine technology has come out of it.

RE: Tuned Pipe Question

I went to Macs and BVM, couldn't fide DF pipes at either. I guess DF is a dying breed! Heli4me, really want a full length pipe. I noticed Macs has some quiet marine pipes. Thinking of giving one of them a try.

Thanks Everyone!!!

RE: Tuned Pipe Question

GMP Heli

This isn't the best place to ask about tunepipes for Helicopters. It is a common question in this forum.

http://www.runryder.com/

Probably the best source for Heli stuff on the Net.

Most US high performance Helicopter guys fly 80 to 90 size machines while most of Europe set up there machines like your talking about.

Best of Luck
