From what I understand Ronnie York of Jetmart USA has plns and molds of the Tornado formerly produced by Mastercraft and ITP which was an Italian outtfit. The original was set up for twin Byron fans and need a bit of modification to bring it up to current levels

I remember seeing that model (ITP) at a jet rally a couple of years back. It's really huge. Fiberglass fuse with foam core wings. The most impressive part of the model was the swing wing mechanism. Don't know of any plans out side of the company in italy. That's the only one I know of that sells a plan of the tornado which is really big like ITP.

Yep Yep,

That's the one I saw at the jet rally a couple of years ago. Nice plane. When will you get it done? And I was wondering how do you balance the full wing sweep?

For the plans try Bertella in Italy, you'll find the adress in RCJI mag where he has an ad.
Chris Gold in England built an F-3 some time ago, I don't know his adress nor if he would sell the plans, try to contact UK guys at http://www.ukjets.org/

Hello.

An Italian manufacturer called Masterfly made a kit a few years ago. We had this example at our meeting in Holstebro a year ago. Powered by a SimJet 2300 and a Avonds bifurcated exhaust.

It is listed in the jets for sale section. Check it out for current reduced price and specs. This is the Masterfly Kit (98") from Italy. My interest has shifted since this jet is about 95% complete and could fly in the state its in now (primer).

RE: Tornado Plans

Hello,
I'm new to this site and have just seen this thread. Can anyone who was involved in this thread give me an update?

I'm trying to find a Tornado kit for turbine power, or one that I can adapt to turbine power. I'm happy to either buy a new kit or to buy a part finished project like the one on this thread, though I realise that the thread is rather out of date now. Anyone got any ideas?
cheers

The Tornado I converted for turbine use is still for sale. The complete ad was once on here but with the new format I have not resubmitted it. It is currently listed on Jetadic.com in the classified section. If you are interested, let me know by direct email. Ken H

RE: Tornado Plans

Hi Ken,
Golly, that is quite some spec there! It sounds like you've done a great job. I'm afraid it's well out of the sort of budget that I have, so I'll have to pass thanks. My father and I fly off grass and the models tend to take a bit of a pounding one way and another, so we try to keep them simple in terms of spec. We also tend to fly mostly from October through to June, so the ground tends to be quite soft, so heavy models just wont work for us (they sink in too much and cant get off!).

I wonder if I can get hold of an unconverted Masterfly kit over here?

I also wonder if the Chris Gold or Bertella plans are more appropriate for me in terms of size? I was looking for something with a lower dry weight, so I might have to find something on a smaller scale? More difficult to engineer I know.

Did Prof Looney have any success in tracking down the Chris Gold or Bertella details?
Cheers
