Question for Stingray owners

Just installed the factory 2 piece ,72oz plastic main tanks. Then to my surprise, I tried to install the nose steering servo/frame assembly (hanging below speed brake servo)-it hits the tank fittings!

This was built per instuction manual- anybody elso run into this?

Appears I'll just have to fabricate a floor mounted mount a couple of inches in front of the intended one.

Maybe someone from Yellow could advise?

TIA
Jake

RE: Question for Stingray owners

Yeah, i did too, i manipulated the tank fittings so the pipes dont intefere with the servo.

Hard to explain, but ill try. My tanks are in series. The vent pipe is on the right side feeding out. The pipe connecting the two, comes out the tank and loops in front of the servo, then goes back to the other tank. The feed pipe, goes on the left side of the servo. If i was to remove the nosewheel servo tray, i have to disconnect the pipe.

My stingray came out at 14lbs with the UAT full, and a probably half on one tank of fuel. Keeping the CG far enough aft was a problem, possibly exacerbated by my heavy building. I ended up putting my reciever pack beside the fuel tank touching the rear former, hence on the cg.

RE: Question for Stingray owners

yea, series plumbing would ensure getting the most fuel out before drawing air to the UAT, but I am concerned with left/right balance/trim as the first tank runs dry.

Have you tried any extreme manuevers yet?

Any bad habits?

RE: Question for Stingray owners

I put my steering servo in front of the nosewheel bulkhead, mainly in an effort to get weight to the front to install a P-70.

I have since switched to a P-60 so I do not know what the CG situation is, but I have all 3 battery packs back next to the tanks....I also have full gear door so that is throwing off my CG as well.

RE: Question for Stingray owners

Jake,

No, i havent tried any extreme maneuvers, its only flown five times and im only buddy boxing at the moment.
My logic was that the tanks are so near the centre of the model, that its unlikely to make much difference. secondly, my reciver battery pack is on the right hand side, and the right hand tank drains first anyway.
I guess ill see in time if theres a problem.
