New Bvm Mig 15 Kit

I have started My new Bvm Mig 15 Kit. I will post some pictures as I build the kit. I can say it is much better than the old kit.

I've gotten mine, but unfortunately there are a few projects ahead of it, so it will be probably next year before I can start on it. Please keep the pictures coming as you go along. What engine do you have planned for it?

Thanks,
Bob

I have not got the turbine now , but may go with a Pst 600r Do you think it will fly the Mig?

You can go with a P-70. More thrust and still saving weigth.

Ah, yes, a man who builds with V-blocks! I use V-blocks and "1-2-3" blocks for just about everything! My dad was a toolmaker and I inherited all his stuff. I never even owned a T-pin until I opened my hobby shop and had to stock them! I've also got a nice set of adjustable parallels and layout squares to remove the guessing.

I think that the Wren MW54 Super Sport would be great in the Mig! Hmmm, maybe I should start saving now for the kit.

Tailwinds,

John

Actually, when I talked to BV, he said that the P-70 is OK, but the P-80 is probably a better match for that airplane. I think that's true, especially if you fly off of grass. I think that the PST-600 is too small for that airplane. You're better off having the power you need to get out of trouble and throttle back when you don't need it, than to get behind the power curve and not have anything to save you. I've flown jets on both ends of the spectrum, and I much more enjoy a plane where I have to throttle back in level flight to aviod going too fast to one where the power isn't there when you need it. They tend to last longer too... YMMV

My friend flew his with a merc. At cruise it was fine but no extra steam if you are i trouble and need some quick go around power. The P80 would perfect, its pumping out 20+lbs thrust now.

Hi wd40,

I will suggest to you the Wren 54 Supersport, 8 Kg. (17-18 lbs) of thrust and a bare weight of 960 gr. (2 lbs). I think is the best thrust/weight ratio in the market.

So you say go with the supersport 54, will it take 5+ years to get one?

RE: New Bvm Mig 15 Kit

Wow, those built up wings, ailerons & flaps sure would save time! I'll bet I spent two of the five months it took me from box to maiden flight just on the wings alone.... the carbon fiber laminate inside the wing gear area is just what's needed. Are the stabs prebuilt also?

I can't quit tell from you PIC's, is there any carbon fiber lamination of the gear block wing ribs and or gear blocks themselves?

And it ships now with a one piece fuselage.... nice

Your really going to like the way this bird handles in the air. And there is nothing that compares to the satisfaction of greasing this bird in. Speed boards, full flaps, and scale gear make it's landing profile one of the sweetest there is.
Have fun building and flying it..

The fuselage is still a two pice fuse, and the gear mounts have carbine fiber ribs and back up plates. The stabs are prebuilt also.I will post some more pic soon. You still have to build the flaps and rudders.

I have more pictures ,but this Da_ _ cam is giving me problems now. I will put the PST 600R'S back in the Me 262 when I get them back from the factoy rep. and find a new turbine for the Mig 15

wd40: You can find a used P-80 here in RCU for a good price. Most of this used engines are just came back from the factorie. Also you can check the serial No. with jetcat to make sure what service they did to it. Last month they sold the new engines for $2495. a $700. discount!!! Be patience and you will find a very good deal.

Alejandro

Awesome flying airplane!!! About as good as a Bandit! I personaly would fly it with a p-80 or for those that like a little extra push go with the 120 and you won't be sorry. Use a speed limiter if your not to sure of yourself with the go stick! Not sure of the VNE but BV gives all that info in the instructions and you can be sure it has been tested also. have flown the built up version quite a bit and it flys awesome!

What do you guy's think about the new Simjet 1200 with 18 pounds for the Mig?

17 to 18 lbs of thrust is plenty.... especially at or near sea level operation. I have flown my BVM MIG-15 at density altitudes well above 8,000 feet.. The P-80 at that density altitude is only producing about 13 lbs of thrust. When I have flown my MIG at or below 3000 MSL the takeoff performance really is much different. I can actually haul it off the runway rather than nursing it off. At takeoff (full fuel) my MIG weighs in at 26 lbs.
