I saw this jet from a DVD i recieved over the weekend, I had never seen or heard of it until now, lets see if anyone out there can name this jet and what airforce had it in service.
If no one can give me the correct answer, i'll post it tomorrow. Interesting jet though...!! Picture added |

Ah. Sorry. I just sold it to a fellow here on RCU. I just was not looking forward to putting the amount of work needed into it. I could do half a dozen other airplanes in the amount of the time it would take to do the Venom. Certain regrets, though. As I packed it up, it did not look like THAT much work. Sigh. I think I just had way too many airplanes and not enough room or time.

Close but no cigar, believe or not the last time this jet flew was about 1yr 6months from the time this picture was taken, there is another one beside it, u can just see the nose section of it.. At this time there for sale . |

Son of a gun. I passed up the opportuninty to get an extremely rare Swedish-made Lansen kit for Dynamax a couple of years back. Should have gone for it, neat airplane. A kit did exist, glass and foam.

A most different airplane for sure. Look at that great fuel tank hanging off the bottom : ). I could make for a very long flying jet lol.
Easytiger that too cool that they had a kit. Ill bet its a rare one. I for one want a good looking Gripen... now where's that 3 view. |

Talking about the Gripen, the DVD i got was from Saab-BAe systems about the Gripen, it shows every airplane that Saab made for the Swedish airforce, and one point it shows all the SAF jet side by side. Some really nice Take offs and landings from the Draken and Viggen. The most imprssive is an unedited video of the Gripen taking off and landing on the roads it uses, its shows the gripen T/O and landing within a 1000ft of runway. Reason why i got it was because i have the PMP Gripen (see my gallery) and wanted to learn more about how the jet flies |

Too cool I hope that pmp grippen is a good one it looks great, I remember seeing it in rcji. I kind wanted to make a Lassen you know something different. Although I really like the Draken that is one cool lookin bird. |

I was in Sweden in 1994 and they were still running the Viggens. They did a demo with a prototype of the JAS-39 Gripen for us. Awesome!!!!!!! Then the Flygvapnet let us fly the tactical combat sim for training new Gripen pilots. I have never had so much fun in my life! I also saw a Viggen take off from a remote country road base from 150 feet away. Talk about feeling your eardrums moving. Enjoy!

Here what is says about the 2 Lansens here in the States. The picture of 2nd Lansen is below.
The Swedish air force desperately wanted a Spitfire PR.XIX (as all Swedish ones had been scrapped). One was found in Canada, to finance its purchase one DC-3, one Skyraider, one Hawker Hunter, two Lansens and one Lansen fuselage were sold, the Lansens to Military Aircraft Restoration Corporation. The Lansens were flown to USA via Scotland, Iceland, Greenland and Canada in around ten flights (around because once oxygen couldn't be filled at one airport in Scotland so it had to be done at another and they had slightly different performances, 32284 was faster, could fly higher and had 6 min longer endurance than 32120) sometimes with waiting times of weeks. First 32120 / FC 20 / N4767R, then 32284 / FC 24 / N4432V (FC = Försökscentralen, the establishment for flying trials) which had a contrasting black and white scheme. The airframe example, 32209 / FC 29 / N5468X, wasn't shipped to the USA, as it was airworthy and FFA had planned on shipping a Lansen wing to USA for windtunnel testing. As it happened the testing was performed not in a windtunnel but during the delivery flight between Sept Iles and Montreal in the Canadian Armed Forces' exercise area. It then spent two years at Langley and then flown to Los Angeles and was the only Lansen which was used in USA, then by Mach Two Flight Services Inc. In 1990 all three were put up for sale, but weren't sold and at the time of writing (2001) are still in storage in the Mojave desert. |

The last J 32´s beside FC's use, was for target towing at a military range way up north in the country.
We also made a swap with som J35 Draken, one was, anyway at that time based at Chino,CA. I had a collegue testfly it for the owner when we had a stopover at LAX.
