I'm starting to rig my Crusader. Does anyone know a good source for metal ball links. Something larger that 4/40.
Thanks David Hudson www.dcmodelshop.com |
RE: Hardware
David, for some reason I can't get to their website, but I believe that Aircraft Spruce has some nice 5-40 size rod ends. We were going to use them on our A-7 stabs.

Dave,
Click on:[link]http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/appages/aurorabrng.php[/link] I bought the both the MW-2 and the MM-2. The MW-2 has 6-32 female threads just like a clevis. The MM-2 has 6-32 male threads. I pulled the picture of the MM-2 off the web-site and I can't seem to find my picture of the other one. Anyway, the construction is certainly sturdy and they should last many airframe lifetimes! The hole in the ball is .125" which makes it correct for a 5-40 screw. I got Allen cap screws from Micro Fasteners. Central Hobbies sells 6-32 titanium threaded rod ends that are bonded into carbon pushrods that should work well. This control system is total over-kill but I think that it is worth it, especially when dealing with a flying stab. Tell us more about that F-8 landing gear...................... I hope that this helps, John |

Not much to say right now. I sent the gear file to my " gear guy" and the prototypes will be finished soon. The nose will be air and the main will be screwjack. Main tires are 4.5". The mains will use a common mounting plate for left and right struts. The screwjack cly will lock the main in the down and up positions. P.S. Your A-7 looks great. I talked to Peter the other day at work. Great guy. David Hudson www.dcmodelshop.com |
