Skymaster F-4E phantom

Hi.

I was on Skymaster's website today and noticed that they added a F-4E Phantom to it. The site says it is a 1:8 scale. Does anyone know if this jet is going to be more on the sport side or is it going to be more on the scale side? Thanks for any help, Gary

Has anyone ordered a Skymaster F4 or is now building one?
I love this jet, but think the price will put people off.

Then wait another year......we've got one in the making, ultrascale and from factory drawings, scaled at 1:6.

The skymaster is pretty good with a lot of detail, but it is not scale. Looks almost as if a Tamiya F-4 kit was used for reference, it pretty much has all the same mistakes :-). One thing that is really worth criticizing is the wing mount...it looks very flimsly and should be replaced with an aluminum tube going through the entire fuselage...

Best regards
Hank

Ouch!! :) those are pretty harsh words from someone promising something that MAY be better that MAY be flight worthy and MAY be ready in a year or so. Oh yes it MAY even be affordable OR NOT!!! So, tell us more about what you can do for us someday. I am not totally pleased with skymasters but ouch did you have to slam them so for trying to put out a somewhat scale good looking plane today, not "next year"

I've seen the Skymaster up close, it is pretty good with a lot of detail, but it is not scale. Looks almost as if a 1:32 Tamiya F-4 kit was used for reference, it pretty much has all the same mistakes :-). I would put it in the sector "sport-scale".
One thing i personally find worth criticizing is the wing mount...it looks very flimsly and should be replaced with an aluminum tube going through the entire fuselage and deep into the wing...

Best regards

Hi,

I just got mine delivered yesterday. If you can acutally believe it, I was so tired of working late that I did not even pull it out of the box yet. From what I can see of the website pictures and conversations, it looks to be pretty scale. I plan on doing it tonight after work and will post my impressions of the kit and maybe some pictures.

Thanks - Adil

Hi Buck,

:D:D

I have been waiting patiently for a while as I believe I was the one who hounded SM and Airpac to come up with a big F-4 loooong time ago. Since then, I've been getting updates, pictures, videos sent to me with my only reply always as: "When do I get it?"

I think I'm going to stop at "starbucks" on the way home as it seems like I have some unpacking and picture taking to do tonight ......:D:D

Trust me when I tell you... Wojtek gave a a severe beating as well last night over the phone for telling me I have the package but won't open it. I swore at midnight when "lucy" started barking unusually, Wojy was in the driveway!! I better do it tonight.....;)

I will report later tonight.

Regards,

Adil

Some people are willing to pay over $600.00 for international air shipping from the factory in China. (The F-4 a BIG box!) You know Adil when he wants the plane, he cant get it off his mind. :D

So Eric; when can we expect a real delivery date in the US please? Thx!

RE: Skymaster F-4E phantom

600$, you must be joking. Dream on buddy.
I hate to think how much it will cost to send one to Cyprus.
Is it worthwhile designing this jet for one or two people???
You are killing a great model before it gets established with your prices & carriage.

Edit. Sorry reply meant to Airpac.

Jim

RE: Skymaster F-4E phantom

Jim,

I'm not sure where that came from.

That shipping cost is not the standard shipping charges. I wanted priority shipping from China (shipped saturday and arrived Wed.) and paid for it. I have a bunch of projects and time is short..

I could have waited and paid a more resonable amount once the "boat gets here"...

What are you comparing the price of this model to?? I think if it flies as good as I see on the SM video, the model is "cheap" for what you are getting.

just my .02C

Adil

RE: Skymaster F-4E phantom

You are here: » Catalog » Jets Kits/Accessories » F-4E Phantom II »
F-4E Phantom II ARF $9,999.00

The F-4E is currently in pre-production and not yet available for purchase.
This price from the Airpac site does look a little steep.

Adil Nasim 10-19-2006 03:41 PM

RE: Skymaster F-4E phantom

Oh I get it...

I believe Eric had posted on another thread a while back that the way his site is set up, if the price is not put in, the default value of 9999 gets put in.

I believe the current price structure is on SM site...

Adil

RE: Skymaster F-4E phantom

For being jet guys you're not very bright!

Eric had to put "$9999.99" in for the price, because the default in the site software is "$0.00." If he left the default in there, some moron would try and demand he be given the "advertised, printed price" even though the site clearly states that "the plane is currently in pre-production" and no orders are being taken.
