Heard that he survived because the helmet was sucked first and broke the turbine...

A-6 intruders seem prone to be involved in unusual incidents... if you think that the last one is a hoax check this pic..
and always remember that reality is stranger than fiction! ;) BR, Enrique |
RE: FOD???
Enrique, I saw a program about that incedent. Quite frightening. I also saw an AAI documentary where a pilot of something like a 737 was partially sucked out of the cockpit at high altitude when his window blew out. His body was pinned against the top of the aircraft and his legs still inside the cockpit. The co-pilot managed a truely awesome emergency landing with way too much fuel onboard etc..... and he brought the unfamiliar aircraft in, and the captain survived with only minor injuries.
"and always remember that reality is stranger than fiction!" I agree. Someone was smiling down on these people. Dave |
RE: FOD???
Now this looks like reality. However a man going through a turbine and surviving is a Hoax. Get out your crossection drawings of any turdojet engine and ask your self can a man realy fit inside a very hot 24" dia tube with rotor and turbine blades turning 70K+ RPM? [sm=confused.gif]. If he did get sucked in only hamberger would come out the other end.

RE: FOD???
I am pretty sure that the guy getting sucked into the A6 is NOT a hoax and the guy did survive.
However a man going through a turbine and surviving is a Hoax Read this for a bit more info (the more plausible story is shown towards the end). http://www.airliners.net/discussions...ead.main/31215 |
RE: FOD???
Bloke didn't go through the turbine..hell if he did, he'd be in a few more peices! ;) His helmet destroyed the engine I believe, reducing suction, and stopping him going down to the roasting section.
like i said before...someone was smiling down |
RE: FOD???
Saw in a tv show a interview with that guy, right after that accident with a broken arm and full of
bruises in the face. If I remember correctly, the A-6 pilot made the right action at the right time when the engine broke shutting off the engine quickly, while the guy was stuck inside the air intake. As Dave said, sometimes there are greater forces helping us, poor blokes... |
