Servo Poll
Hey Guys.... Going to be expanding the Servo Line available on Dreamworks. Can you give me an idea what your common choices for servo selection are besides the 8411/8611's, 3421, 9411 and DS168.
Thanks in Advance for your input... Todd |

RE: Servo Poll
Hi Todd.
Here in Denmark a lot of the guys use a DS5491 servo from Graupner/JR. It is a great servo at a great price. Half power of the 8411 (Don't know ounces) 5,5 kilo power and 12 kilo holding power. Also. DS3328 wing servo. 4 kilo power and 9 kilo holding power. Perfect for thin wings and rudder on smaller aircraft. (Used them on my F-104) My 2 cents Have fun |

ORIGINAL: Stig Andersen Hi Todd. Here in Denmark a lot of the guys use a DS5491 servo from Graupner/JR. It is a great servo at a great price. Well, here's the thing with Hitec for me.... Everything I sell on Dreamworks is something I would confidently use in my own aircraft. It is very important to me to make sure the product I supply is quality and will perform for the customer as intended. I have not had good experiences with the Hitec servo line and have been very reluctant to offer them. I suppose, this type of product selection is something I should not be too bothered with (ford vs chevy) but... I just hate to see someone loose a plane to a poor servo selection. So..... I again turn to you guys for your input.... Should I carry the Hitec line even though I am not comfortable using them myself? What servos, if any, from hitec would you suggest I not carry? |
RE: Servo Poll
DS-368 and analog 341's.
The 368 cause it is a sturdier, still small servo and a better choice than the 168 if it will fit (my opinion). The 331/341/351 for light apps you shouldn't use a digital on - brake or retract valve, maybe a shutoff valve etc. |
RE: Servo Poll
add 351s and 2721s to the list ....

RE: Servo Poll
Not that this will help much, but in Europe there is a DS8321 (DS, Metal Gear, 9.0KG/cm torque) that sits between the 8231 and 8411. It is a great servo but there doesn't seem to be an equivalent in US.

RE: Servo Poll
Personally, I like the Futaba range and have used them successfully in a multitude of different aircraft from 1/3 scale warbirds to jets to anything! Never had any problems.

RE: Servo Poll
All the Hitec Digital servos I'd leave the 56xx series out .. they are known to have had failures ( of the worse kind, and usually with a full deflection lockout .. ) Wojtek |
RE: Servo Poll
Im for any servo with metal gears and a coreless motor.
Todd the DS3328 is similar or the same as ds3301 I think they even use the same gear set. I will let you know as I just got some gears for my 3301's Used the Futaba 9206's lately and they seemed to be really tight on the gear train and strong. |

What are the popular numbers being used in the Futaba lineup?.... Keep it coming guys! Thanks |
RE: Servo Poll
Hi Todd what about Futaba servos, in some countries like mine you don't get JR and as you I don't trust Hitec neither. I had one burned up on startup... I have always used Futaba with no problems at all.
