Stingray!
Hi,
My Stingray just arrived! Well, it arrived a couple of hours ago, and I've been playing with it, then I remembered that I promised some pics. It comes with: --Aft fuse formers installed --Main gear mounts installed --Aluminum wing-spar receptacles installed on main spar former --Carbon cloth lamintated between balsa sheeting and foam core --Removeable fins, with carbon-sar receptacles installed I also got a set of the new Yellow Aircraft retracts, and they look very nice. They look kinda like black SpringAirs, but they're harder, thicker, and they're air-up/air-down. Also, they're reverse-cylindered, so they'll work on the single Hornet or other sport jets. They're bored out to accept those 3/8" struts already, too. Those are $140 for a three-gear set, including all the doo-dads (tank, valve, lines, etc). I guess my only wish is that the Stingray were a little bigger, but they built it at the time when the smaller engines were the craze. I'm planning to use a turned-down P-80 (for its light weight), but I'm also gonna build an interchangeable mount for .60-size pusher power (just to see how it flies on one). Anyway, here're the pics! |

Stingray!
So far I have sold three of the Stringray kits and I must say the design and quality of the kit is outstanding! It appears Yellow has stepped it up a notch with preprimed epoxy glass fuse, dorsal brake and plug in fins. The aircraft will handle a variety of gear ( Robart, Springair, Yellow's new version ). A word of caution though....I talked in length to the designer of the Stingray at Superman. DO NOT OVERPOWER this bird. It is designed around the popular MW 54 series engines and can attain very high speeds with only 11 lbs of thrust. The S'Ray has a very low frontal profile and will easily exceed 200 mph! For anyone wanting some pics - email me through my website www.helijet.ca For $395.00 plus shipping the S'Ray is a real bargain. Just keep in mind to keep it light and for safety - use the powerplant it was designed for.

I'll have your kit cleared through customs on Tuesday. Want to pick it up or shall I send it. I figured you could just drop on in with the 747 in Kamloops on your way back home! No wait....the airport runway may not be long enough - may have to meet you in Vancouver. Your P80 should be ready then too. Any projects planned for it? Speaking of Yellow - Kelly Williams is looking at the Yellow F18 as a test bed for the new PST 600. |

Help.....
I'm computer illiterate. I just got a digicam recently. I keep trying to upload the pics, but it's saying they're too large for RCU. How do I reduce them so they can upload?? |
Stingray!
Shaun,
Go into some kind of photo editing program (I use graphic workshop) and resize or scale the picture to a smaller size. Keep scaling it down untill you can post it. If you cant, email it to me at [email protected] and I will resize it and post for you. I have high speed internet so the large file size wont slow me down... Hey Marc! Are you going to can the Reaper now that you are getting the stingray? Or is the p-80 going on the SReaper and the Wren on the Stingray? Call me when you get back. Miss talking jets! Andrew |
Stingray!
Dean and Andrew,
On the computer again on vacation and my girlfriend is giving me the LOOK !!!!! Good news about the Stingray and engine ! Initially the P80 will go on the SR for a little more zoom and the Wren or the RAM 500 ( if I ever get it running) will go on the Stingray. I had better get off the computer before I have a mutiny on my hands... And they say it's a sickness. I don't know what they mean ! |
Stingray!
Shawn,
I think you have to reduce the pictures to 80k or less to upload them here. Check the size in explorer. |
Stingray!
Any idea if they are going to release a clear canopy?

Chris
If Yellow doesn't - the BVM F86 canopy fits and looks really cool. Paul Hopkins out of Florida has done just that. He got his kit last week and will have it flying at Lake Wales this weekend!!! |
Stingray!
Thanks Dean!, I may have to look into it.

Stingray!
Charles told me at Toledo, the Stingray is based on the Front of the Yellow F-16.
Thus, I bet theYellow F-16 Canopy would be a better fit than the F-68 canopy. |
Stingray!
Terry,
You're right! |
