Does the canopy on the Panther open and close in flight? That is cool.

Both the A10 and the Panther look absolutely awesome.

Yes, the canopy and blow-in doors close with gear retraction, then open when the gear goes down.

David awesome pictures. I had a great time at Buttonwillow yesterday. Also Dave Presta thanks for setting it down soooo gently. I think we burned close to 25 gallons of jet A yesterday. Even Henry got to do some flying:D ( inside joke)

This last bit may sound like an ad but its just to say thanks to Felipe of Artes Jets. Two weeks ago I had a problem with one of the starter motors for my Eagles and Felipe overnited two new starter motors. I went out to Buttonwillow to maiden the Hog and had nothing but problems and did not get a chance to fly the hog and went home bummed out. The following Thursday I had two brand new Eagles that were test run in a twin configuration along with two complete new install kits sitting in my office. Felipe ran and tested them personally and then overnited them to me. The new motors ran great and hence the arial shots above by David. I have and continue to run engines from other manufacturers but non ever offered the type of service and support to make sure I get in the air. I have had similar problems at one time or another with all manufacturers and the problems I had were not limited to just the Artes engines. Artes Jets was the only one to offer this level of support and help. Felipe even offered to fly up from Mexico city to help with the install and setup so that I would not miss another day. Felipe and Eric thank you very much for your help and support. Buttonwillow was a blast and very successful.

One more thingm the hog flew breatiful. A-10 has a certain way of flying and this one does just right. If you want a big plane that has a different look and is fun to fly then no further. I can't wait to get a few more flights on her and then load up with a few bombs and missles. Its gonna be wonderful to see low banking passes going back and forth. Some more weight in the nose and then landings should also be a lot better. I was in hog heaven yesterday.

Just to let you guy's know..I been bugging Sung for weeks about wanting to fly his A-10. I mean, this plane is so incredible it keeps me up at night (what can I say, my wife is 7 months pregnant). So you will never hear me complain that I got to stand next to Sung and watch him wring this thing out for 10 minutes.....and give me the last 20 seconds. I loved every second of it.......Thanks again bud, it was awesome......its monday and I still got the chub!
Anyway, who's idea was it to balance that thing with the gear up (forward) anyway? I cant believe that Mr.Inverted flat spin was behind that idea? After a few pounds of noseweight, and a little nosegear steering adjustment, that thing will be dialed.
Being super tail heavy, when giving elevator input on final approach to stop the decent, the tail just drops like a Mother...and the only thing that can keep you safe are the two burners mounted on the tail. When the tail dropped, just a few clicks of throttle and the Artes Eagles came to the rescue, great throttle response and perfectly in sinc....The nose stayed up a hair, and the engines controled the decent angle..fantastic. In situations like this, throttle spool up time is the difference between Hero or Zero! Thanks to Eric and Felipe for taking care of Sung, I know that getting this bird in the air was a big deal to him, and you guy's made it all possible. I spent 3 hours driving each way to see Sung fly his A-10, and I would do it again in a heartbeat..........well, maybe if he pays the gas!;)

Dave, you are the man with that Panther....I was happy to see you get that bird up, it looks great and you did an awsome job flying it. Sorry that Im not as good with your camera as you are....Its not as easy as it looks.

Joey C. Thanks for bringing your air force and letting us all take turns with your toys. I got to fly my first Boomerang, and my first Bobcat because of you..and I had a ball. Thanks bud.

John Christensen, Formation boomerang photos should say it all... If you would have told me that the most fun I was going to have would be flying a twin boomed trainer, I would have asked you what you been smokin! What a blast! Climb to 100ft, shut down the motor...glide for 4 minutes....then restart! Now that was cool.

Mark, watching you taxi around your new toy all day was great....I still think you should have pulled your sack out and put a servo in the wing so we could fly.....but hey, its your plane!

I had so much fun at the Willow that I could go on for two pages listing all the cool stuff that went on.....of course, the moderators would have to edit half of it....but you get the idea. Thanks to everyone who was there, it wouldnt have been as fun without any of you. I will put the California gang up against any other group of pilots when it comes to fun.

Till next time,
Dave

Dave,
It says a lot about you driving all that way with no jet just to hang out with us, its always a pleasure when your in company. Next time, the F-18 will be ready and we will get a lot of stick time on her. The Willow was great, we all had a great time. As Dave said, Sung's A-10 was awsome, one of the most impressive flying RC jet I have seen, Sung you flew her great. Everyone have a fun and safe Labor day. See you all soon. Joe Castelao!!
