Mike,
what is the diameter of the ram 500? Can you take a better pic of the engine sitting on the rails.... Removing the back end of the fuse in that area will have no structural issues... Wondering why the engine is sitting much higher though... Assembly time is around 20hrs...
Might try to make the Warthog mouth in Vinyl...I'll let you know if it works.

Does anyone make the "warthog" mouth and eye decals that will fit this plane. I think it would really set them off.. What do you think Todd???
I wanted to but there are to many curves even for a mask I would think.

Todd I have attached some better pics, it is sitting on the rails. I even thought about installing the turbine "clamp" on the bottom of the plywood rails, but then the turbine is sitting too low into the wing. I think it will be fine, its just going to hurt me to grind into the beautiful fuse.

Dean, so basically I would probally have to have someone paint it on?

Todd: Are you offering building services or someone you would recommend? At what price?

Regards

Alex

Mike,
Ok...Better views. Actually, the position looks fine, just have to clear the can by 1/2" at the back. Have to remove less than I thought. Thanks!

Alex,
Building service for th A10X? Yes, I can have one RTF for you...Give me a call for details.

I decided to put my P-60 in instead.

Anyone have one with a 60 yet?
Will I be the first?

JRDS811s will fit in the elevator pockets BTW. you just have to trim back the servo arm hole.

it's a cute little bugger no doubt. I haven't tried them in the wing yet but I don't see it being a problem, since the wing thickness is larger than the elevator.

cheers

no not yet, I plan on getting recommended throws and cg from Todd

mugenkidd 10-04-2005 08:37 PM

RE: A-10X Almost Here

On another thread the CG is 115 mm back from leading edge
Aileron + - 30mm
Elevator +- 25mm
Flaps - 60mm
Rudder 25mm LR

The plane goes together pretty quick I got all of the retracts, flight servos, and turbine installed, now I just really need to do the plumbing.

BTW how are the little plywood pieces used that are included in the tank??

I had a feeling there were jet guys in Kileen. My uncle lives in Harker Hts. i'll give a shout if it's ok with you the next time I'm in town for a day or so.

I got the Red/White one and it has decals similar to the Bicentennial F-15 Fin flash.

I'm hoping to have her ready for taxi/range checks this weekend also. she's a breeze to assemble.

Knew there was a reason I liked you Buck, I was born at Ft. Hood in 72, our first house was in Harker Heights, which as you know is the "affluent" part of town ;)

Luis owes me more than a few buds, so invite me and I'll share the wealth on his nickel!

Absoulutely Buck! From what I understand theres only a grass field here in Killeen but Austin is a relatively short drive to the south where we can find a questionable personality to party with. Sean, I dont know if I'd call any part of Killeen affluent, but Harker Heights is still the better part of town. I bought my home in Copperas Cove, just west of Fort Hood and am still trying find a good field to fly at here. Not sure if there is one. Oh, I got the red/white color sheme as well.

[sm=thumbup.gif][sm=thumbup.gif]

bro' HOTMAC is just 40 minutes away and the A-10X will likely be able to be flown from a Tennis court. I just ordered a bunch of Tam's rocket-bombs. should be fun to fool around with.

imagine full Crow braking about 75' nose down. should be able to replicate Battle of Midway type bombing fairly easily

now if it would hurry and rain out here I could get some more flying in at my field

Got mine today!!! Everything looks great. No damage as far as I can tell. Amazing this thing made it here all the way from China. Those main gear look VERY stout!

Todd, any luck with that inproved instruction manual?
