Kangaroo

Is this plane still avail for US sales? I dont see any pricing in the Composite ARF webpage. Has anyone ever tried to fly this plane with a pusher prop as described in the web page. Tks

Yeah, I Have a friend that had one set up with a 4 stroke 120, and I flew it at Winamac a few years ago. What a hoot. Kinda under powered but it did fly. As I remember it did some strange stuff, But I can't remember what exactly!?! I just remember Laughing my ***** off while I was flying it.:D:D

yes this plane/jet is still for sale. mine came yesterday via fed-ex.

i bought one a few years ago. started building it , then decided to sell it to fund the Skymaster Hawk project. then months later i regreted selling it. I then called Ray Labonte A composite -arf rep. i told him i was interested in another kangaroo. He contacted me a day or so later , told me if i want one the can ship one direct from Thiland. 2 months later, it was delivered.

now i did notice with the new kangaroo, there were some nice improvements over the other one i had. same color scheme ( flag ). but the bottom of the jet, on the inside, had alot more of fiberglass reinforcement. but thats all i noticed when i opened the box for inspection with the fed-ex guy drooling over me looking at the jet.

Don“t know if it is still available, and I tried years ago two prop setups (17cc and 35 cc glow engines) the results where disappointing...

Best regards, Enrique

RE: Kangaroo

Looks like I had better not try it with a prop engine due to gross underpower.

RE: Kangaroo

they will fly with a Moki 1.8 glow motor

RE: Kangaroo

Would it fly well with Moki 1.8 ? Would the prop hit the runway each time I land with nose high attitude? I wanted to get used to delta flying & landing before I install a turbine.

Sport,

I have not seen one fly on prop. power, but I doubt that anyone would claim that it would fly "well" on it. In addition, its not going to be anything like flying it with a turbine. The throttle responce is going to be different, the residual thrust issue with the turbine will not be there, it will be MUCH ligher than the turbine - especially at takeoff, as well as, of course, the top speed will be way lower. Hold out for the turbine and save the airframe from the inevitable knocks it would get if you glow power it.

I used a moki, with a rotated carb position and a APC 16 x 16 prop... and it was dreadful. better keep the roo for a turbine
and the moki for a extra. ;)

Tks for the info.

RE: Kangaroo

i agree, skip the moki and any other glow option, if you were to learn to fly it with a glow, then you would have to learn to fly it all over again with the turbine. i was going to go the same way to get my waiver, but i juststarted out with a turbine jet and went from there.

again , skip the glow and go right to the turbine. get it set up with a buddy box with someone who can fly turbines, and you will be fine

I am already turbine certified . Flown the Facet 2300 . Recently had a crash on landing after about 70 flights. I dont intend to rebuild it. Thinking of another simple plane for short field . I thought of the Roo with regular engine so I can get used to landing a delta but looks like that is a bad option . I do have one set of Facet 2300 wings in very good condition if anyone is interested in making me a decent offer !

ahhhh the facet 2300, i have one. 60 flights on mine in the past 12 months. been flying mine with a p-80. but today i installed a p-120 on the facet 2300, I bought the original facet 2300 from kerry himself. that bright green one you see listed all over the place. kerry lives not to far from me and he is cutting a new type of wing for me to try on the 2300.

RE: Kangaroo

Great flying plane. However The original wing has tendency to tip stall at low speeds . Needs flaps to alleviate the tendency.
