Commander & Chief TV oops

Watching the TV show Commander & Chief tonight they goofed up when they decided to send F-15's to destroy cocaine fields but then when they showed in flight pics of the jets, they were 3 F-16's.

Funny,

Yeah,

Don't you hate that?? I was reading an otherwise very good novel about a bioterrorist group. The Prez had the Cheifs put a strike plan together. I was all into the story when the Navy brass got up and said, "We'll have a flight F-16s from the Abraham Lincoln ready to launch at 0530 hours....." and there went my 'suspension of disbelief' right out the window.

Re: Top Gun; Mikoyan MiG-28 (fictional)
The Mikoyan MiG-28 (NATO reporting name unknown) is a fictional aircraft in the 1986 movie Top Gun.

As depicted in the movie, the MiG-28 pilots excelled in masking their true numbers on enemy radar by flying in extremely close formation.

F-5 aircraft were disguised for the movie for use as MiGs by being painted black with red stars on the tail. While the identity of "the Enemy" is not revealed in the movie, it is often assumed to be the Soviet Union or another nearby Communist state such as North Korea.

Re: CINC & E-Ring; the only real problem with these types of shows is that the actors go out in public really believing they are the experts they portray in the shows; a la recent comment by Donald Southerland. And, they really don't want real military advisors on the payroll because the producers/ actors learn quickly how stuck on stupid they really are.

Hmm, and all the time I thought that the Mig-28 was this aircraft:

MiG-28 Flounder

The MiG-28 Flounder is a new development and joint project from Hallad and Maldaathi. It incorporates the designs from both nations best aircraft designers, and makes major upgrades on the MiG-27 Flogger D. The original design was created in Hallad, early 2001. Lack of funds delayed the development of the aircraft. The project was reborn in 2002, and with a stronger economy Hallad was able to fully fund the project. After some talks with the nation of Maldaathi, it was decided to allow them to work on the project, and help fund it.

The MiG-28 incorporates the latest radar and weapons guidance systems from Hallad and Maldaathi. The weapons system is similar to that of the Su-36 Imperator, the MiG-28, however, is incapable of using the AA-11. The MiG-28 can target 4 enemies simultaneously and can hold up to 10 missiles.

The engine is the latest Lyullka engine available, the 41F, which gives the thrust over 39,000 lbs. Along with this, the wing structure makes the MiG-28 very maneuverable, able to outmatch such American favorites as the F/A-22 or F-35. Due to the MiG-28s fold-back wings it is expected that a naval model will come out soon, however niether HNAM or MNMI have mentioned any intention of creating a K model.

Except for the fact that Mikoyan-Gurevich has never had a fighter aircraft with an even number designation in their history.

Even the big fish make errors. In Hunt for Red October, Clancy has the 100 or so Soviet crewmembers all looking out the windows of the KC-135 they are riding home to Rodina. Hard for 100 folks to look out 3 windows.

in the oringinal release of fire fox the called it the mig 25.....but changed it to the mig 31, which would be a cool looking turbine model.

The statement above said "The MiG-28 Flounder is a new development and joint project from Hallad and Maldaathi." I didn't see anything in there about Mikoyan-Gurevich. I know the MiG implies Mikoyan-Gurevich as the maker, but due to the declining state of the former USSR, maybe they sold the rights to their name and such to some other company. In this case Hallad and Maldaathi, and they still used the MiG designator. Just tossing an idea in. :D

As far as CINC and E-ring? I would rather watch OverHaulin' completely destroy a classic vehicle than watch that. LOL :D
