Thorjet planpack
 

I'm still trying to make up my mind on my next project. I'm in the home stretch of a GP Patriot build right now. I like to build so Thorjet appeals to me.

If I could get some feedback on the planpacks I'd appreciate it. I've never built from anything other than a kit. So I want to know what I'm getting into. And info from builders of these kits would be great.

Hi,

I have build them all. My personal best is the F20 and followed shortly by F18. I build these some 10 years back for 45 size DF. Great time building. But its a labour of love. I would recommend the lazer cut former set. I safes you hours.

Flying them is great. Low wing loading make it easy to land.

I agree, go for the F20 and order the CNC cut formers, they are a work of art in themselves and saves a shed load of time.

Flies great too, keep the weight down and fly off a dolly and you can fly it at virtually any old rough grass strip.

Thanks guys. I'm leaning towards the F20. This would be my first DF. But I'm a fairly good pilot. It can't be much more difficult to fly then a Patriot.

I'm thinking of trying the foam wing with it.

And I have a paved runway. So I'm going wiht retracts.

I agree with dennismate - I have built two F20 models and I would recommend the CNC former set also but I would go with the built up wings as they are easier to fit out with retracts as they have a deeper section than the foam wings.
The model flies great even with a .46 DF set up.

i have built the f20, two f104s and the mirage (and owned an F18). and they all fly very well. i agree that the built up f20 is the best, the larger F/G fuselage F20 is in my opinion not as nice to build or fly as the wood one. build the wood one with a wren 44 and you will have a cracker of a model
