Distance from pump/sols to engine?
 

Hi Guys. I'm scratch building a jet and do not to add any unnecessary noseweight. To help this I want to put the 2 solenoids & fuel pump as far forward as possible behind the noseleg retract. This will mean the pump will be about 24 inches forward of the engine and the solenoids another 6 inches in front of that. The two fuel tanks & the air trap will be just in front of the engine over the CG. Is there a practical limit of how far the pump & solenoids can be from the tank & engine? - John.

I put the UAT all the way up frount on a jet I had that need nose weight, It work great. The UAT is 8OZ of weight that you can use anywere. Mine was about 30 inches in front of the motor. I had the pump right next to the motor. Never had a problem with the engine. Don't move the pump move the UAT, more weight.

It is poor practice to mix radio and turbine stuff. I carry my radio up front and my turbine stuff aft with a 4" gap.

I just measured the distance from the front of my JetCat engine to the fuel pump in my KingCat, and found it to be 31 inches. The solenoids are 27 inches from the engine....since the pump provides fuel under pressure, the distance you need should not be a problem.
All of the equipment is mounted per the assembly manual.

There was a thread on this very issue last week...the consensus was to keep the suction side as short as possible, the pressure side doesn't matter. I have one jet with a 48" run between the pump and the turbine..

What nony is saying is correct. But it all depends on your pump and voltage. I know some pumps that can not pump fuel over distance. Do a test first before going through all the trouble. If problem then you can also go to 6mm supply instead of 4mm.
