Hi,

Here are some new pictures of the JetLegend T45. Hopefully it will be released soon after some more flight tests.

I don't have any more information yet but will keep those interested informed...

I think it would fly well on a Wren 54 size turbine.

I hope the production model is fitted with wing fences.

Hi,

Well you do have a throttle stick or you can always reduce the thrust of the engine to make it more manageable.

I understand that the Sky Master T45 performes really well with the MW54SS.

The smaller and lighter (18lb?) Jet Legend T45 should be ballistic with the Super Sport!

The JL T45 is the same size as the Ice Mouldings kit i.e. 63" span so any 54 size turbine should be fine. I do recall you fitted a 54 into your 1:7 Thorpe Hawk so the Supersport should not be too much power for the JL T45. The big advantage of the SS is not so much the extra power but the much faster spool up particularily from about half throttle.

As I am in a hair splitting mood it is nice to see an actual T45 with some of the scale details such as the airbrakes etc. As I am sure you are aware the SM T45 does not differ from the SM Hawk other than in the ARF colour scheme.The full size versions differ substantially.

At least in this instance we shouldn't have SM jumping down JL's throat about who designed what!

Sound like the MW54SS could be the engine of choice for the JL T45.

The MW54 MK3 I used in the 1/7th Thorpe Hawk was a real gem with very good spool times. Interesting that the SS is even quicker to spool up. Must get one.....

Yes, the scale detail in the photos that Jeff posted looks super. Don't know too much (well nothing actually!) about full size Hawks but I love RC model Hawks. I'ts nice to see so many about.

Is the Ice Mouldings Hawk the same as the PJP Hawk that Mark Leavesley is selling?

heheh, good looking pics Jeff :P , model is designed to work around the P60 and up sized turbines. I'm hoping to get one going with a PST 600R Soon.

Yes, it is the same model, I believe PJP took over Ice Mouldings kits. BTW it is a very nice kit and very scale but at £595 it seems a lot of money considering the large amount or work you have to do! The JL T45 looks like excellent value.

I had a Mk3 Wren 54 which was as good as any in the class but the SS is like a glow motor in terms of spool up!

The Ice Mouldings Hawk was sold to PJP and is available from Leavesley Aviatin ready built. We have flown ours with both the MW54 and the Super Sport, both with no ballast. With that engine I would expect the Jet Legend T45 to exceed 200mph. Hopefully the JL structure will take it but a true scale Hawk is very aero-dynamic and very fast. It also has a lovely slow flying capability.

Several people have fitted Jetcat P80s, with I am told, gratifying success. If you are going for that weight of engine, I would expect you to need a certain amount of ballast, and with a 12-14Kg engine a good smooth landing site because the undercarriage is going to have to work for its living. If flying at 250mph+ turns you on, then I would go for it. It has crossed my mind to put a Merlin in but my son says he finds it hard enough to fly with a Super Sport.

Actually as a 62 year old, with eyes and reactions not quite as good as they used to be, I found the MW54 version very exciting to fly. It might not have unlimited vertical but 400-500ft from a low pass was routine and it turns into a small speck in the distance horribly quickly. If the JL T45 has the structure to take the loads it promises to be very exciting.

I received those images from JL in China but:

It's painted like that - you just need to apply the stickers like other JL models

The airbrakes look like they could be made easily functional

The very original Jim Fox version at this scale flew with a JPX 240 at 13 pounds (if you're lucky) thrust quite well so I think Wren SS or I quite fancy the Trudo 70 in one.

OOPS, I thought you had it in hand. Wishful thinking as I've been waiting to hear something on this plane. I've been drooling over a Simjet 1200 that would also suit this airframe.

TAM had stated he would import whatever would not conflict with the jets Airpac has, since this is smaller than AirPac/Jetmaster than he might be the one to talk to.

For any/all questions about Jetlegend kits in the United States, call Tam. Tamjets will be the US importer for Jetlegend newly designed kits, this WILL NOT include any aircraft that was previously sold as a Skymaster product. I dont know when the delivery date is, but I know we are getting a bunch of kits to test fly for JetLegend. Tam will be able to tell you more.
