Multiplex and receivers..
Anyone using their MPX 4000 TX with a different brand of RX in PCM mode? Of course, all the 12 channels would be great.... Multiplex stopped the production of their great PCM receivers after the discovery of IPD..[&o] I`m after a replacement in PCM mode here, as I feel moore secure about PCM in jets in Norway. Meaning, you don`t have to live in Norway to reply on this.. Gudmund |
RE: Multiplex and receivers..
It's about time you discover IPD yourself, Gudmund!;-)

RE: Multiplex and receivers..
Hi Gudmund,
Time to move on. PCM is old technology. I use 12 Channel IPD synth Rx's in my jets and they have been absolutely rock solid. Regards, John |

Hi
and what is the servos do you use with your MPX receveirs? FUTABA, GRAUPNER, or MPX only? Stéphane |
RE: Multiplex and receivers..
Hey Guys,
What is a 12 channel IPD Synth RX ? Are Futaba and JR making these recievers too ? Jim  |
RE: Multiplex and receivers..
No, not a synth.. Just ordinary chrystals.. I had one (synth), from the first batch. All servos went cracy, blocked on max throw in any direction. It "showed" to be a cell- phone broadcast from a "near" antenna. ( Anyhow, that`s what the dealer told me..) Gudmund |

Stéphane Using MPX, HiTec and some Futaba, but those I have (Futaba) can`t take moore than 4,8 Volt. None Futabas in my Gripen, though.. On my Boomerang XL, I`ll have 6 x 5595 TG and two carbonite servos from HiTec on flaps. + several other capable servos too. If this goes down due to interference, I`ll buy a collecters stamp collection.... Just kidding :D |

ORIGINAL: Jim Abarno Hey Guys, What is a 12 channel IPD Synth RX ? Are Futaba and JR making these recievers too ? Jim  IPD is a replacement technology for PCM. Multiplex were the first to introduce PCM tecnology and the first to move on. Synth means no crystals. I think both JR and Futaba make Synth recievers now, but not IPD. Both are committed to PCM for the moment. Futaba have a 14 channel PCM system. This is quite clever since they have overcome one of the main obstacles with PCM tecnology which is the number of channels you can have. However it is hugely expensive, and I can expand my MPX 4000 to 18 channels, buy a second one and still have change. regards, John |

RE: Multiplex and receivers..
I have used IPD and when you do get to the end of its range it starts gittering... It does not lock
into some pos or go to some failsafe mode (it can)... All the servos chatter and still follow the trans sticks, just slowly. It gives you a warning before you loose it.. (I did this on a RC car with a wireless camera... All over the hood while I watched TV.. Good way to test range on an airplane system)... Eddie Weeks |
RE: Multiplex and receivers..
I remember one meeting at Sandane here in Norway.
I had a 12 channel MPX PCM rx, with a MPX 3030 tx. We performed at test with two models at the same channel (64-35 Mhz) side by side on the ground. Standing just one meters apart from each other, we switched both planes on to see what happened. Antennas at their full lenght. The other radio was a FM 6 ch Sanwa. What then happened surprized us.. Mine (PCM) was totally controllable, not fast acting and smooth, but highly controllable. The other was in total caos. Later this day, i saved my Byron F-16 DF, due to the capabilitys of this receiver, as someone accideltally switched his transmitter on. Eddie, at what range do you think you will lose your model at? At least 1000 meter, is no problem with IPD. You would almost certainly loose it in a sight issue, long before it`s range issue. Things are different on the groud, or close to it. App. half the range. Btw, great tip about what happens too far out! |

Gents...[8D]
What MPX RX's are usable with Futaba 9C TX's...i will be after another Rx shortly, but only recently bought the 9c Tx...? Also, i bought a selection of MPX servos ,Profi Digi, Profi Digi speed... Titan Digi 4... and even a couple of Royals ....all work fine with the 9C and Futaba PCM Rx...exept the Titan...this works fine on the Servo master ..but wont work at all with the Futaba RX...any ideas here...? ...Thanks ...Dave. |

Btw, great tip about what happens too far out! The transmitter was in the shop, closed up so I could see the TV...The little car was around 400 meters down the street... When I went inside my friends house 100 meters away I would start to loose TV.. and loose a little Control ... I saw Rocketman drive 2500 feet away with his plane running, and he was out of site because of the crown in the runway... When flying the rig with the Profi 4000 we would get a bump evey now and then.. It was really fast and hard.. So they are not perfect but do have more range than anything I have used.. Eddie |
RE: Multiplex and receivers..
Yes, the IPD has a impressive range, perhaps the best on the market. You really would need a huge model to loose it on sight... I flew 10 years with the MPX PCM rx, without a second out of control, exept in one incident at Rena, 18 months ago. Now I have retired it, because of it`s age. To bad they`re gone, but bying a secondhand rx, is a no-issue.. So I guess I`ll just have to continue using the IPD.. |
