Uat Help

I took apart a busted uat for the first time, the two brass fittings in the side of the uat, I can get them off, but those who have been here before me, what tool are you using to tighten them onto the new nalgene tank?

And if not useing the original fittings, what new fittings are you using?

Thanks,

Sean,

I was going to fabricate a tool from a piece of music wire that would fit in the oblong hole in the rear of the fitting to hold it. But I ended up just using a pair of hemostats to hold the nipple of the fitting and tightened the nut with a 7/16 ignition wrench (a very thin wrench)

Sean, either way that Gary states will work. You may find that you'll have a hard time getting the fittings tight enough trying to hold them from the outside. Leak check them good. You can also make your own (I know you love making things :D) a couple different ways, just re-use them, it's easier.

I've got one that's just begun to leak, and started a thread about it last week. I was hoping there would be a simple tool to make up and insert to constrain the back end, but by that photo it seems like a lost cause. I'm going to try the "wrench on the nipple" (man that sounds painful!:D) technique and see if I can tighten min up again. It must have been right on the edge of sealed properly when I disturbed it... Doesn't look like its a commercially available fitting since the SWB web site says they custom make them, which is kinda surprising but I guess if you have 10 min to spare on a CNC then why not... As a check, I showed my tank to the local pneumatics guru at work and he didn't recognise the fitting from any of his catalogues either...

Done it before, I took a piece of piano wire grinded it to the right shape and bended it too to fit the brass fitting from inside, don't for get to use the red lock tight fastener to form a seal around the fitting to prevent any air leaks and don't tighten them too much, haven't had any problems so far in 4 months.

I have bought them direct from SWB. I think SWB manufactures them.

If I happen to mess mine up, roughly how much did SWB charge for a set...? Can they supply a proper tool for installation?

Thanks for the info.
