jet engine?

hi
i am wandering if there is a small jet engine that is cheap. im talking real cheap but it has to be small. if there is such a thing who sells it?

I think that the smaller the turbine is, the more difficult it is to manufacture. Take the MW44, for example, which costs more than MW54. Development of small MW54 or MW44 turbine and manufacturing it is of little cost difference than the larger KJ66. Even the Bee from Artes Jets will not cost less than the MW54 sized turbine. Also they are operating from the same class of electronic controller and accessories. The lowest cost turbine would be fully manual and home-built.

You only get what you pay for.
There is no such thing in turbines: Small reliable and cheap.....
Unreliable=expensive

Cheap Turbine

Hi superdave

I have to agree with B777. Just because the engine is smaller, doesn't mean that it will cost less. The material costs are slightly less, but the labour to put it all together is about the same. And as B777 stated, regardless of size, they use the same controllers and valves that the big boys do.

If your looking for cheap, look at the used engine market. If your looking for small and cheap, look at the used engine market in a couple of years.

Otherwise, buy a kit or plans and have at it.

jde offers mw54 based kits in air start that is about as cheap as it goes to still run well when built......they are pre drilled and tapped..this is a plus over many other kit turbines.

...and don't forget the cost of electronics and equipment time for assembling plus you still have to test the turbine once its assembled. Cheap is not the correct word here..even for the least costed turbine with simplest features. Just go with what you think suit you best...saving on lowest cost radio gears as well? Cost justification wouldn't hurt and see how much you really end up spending on one ready to fly jet...we are usually surprised and many times things that we try to cut on caused us dearly.
