fixed gear for DV8R

I would like to simplify things by using a fixed gear configuration. Any suggestions from those who have built the plane on which direction to take?

a) Add the regular wood blocks for a wire LG b) split a regular Aluminium L/G and mount it like it were a retract ?

Tks

Can I ask why you want to put fixed gear in it?

One less complication and lower cost.

If it were me, I'd look down the road a bit. If at some point in the future you decide to sell it, it would probably have more value if the option of having retracts was still there. That being the case, I would install the retract rails then attach the fixed geat to them...

It will be much harder to transport and store both the fuse and the wing with fixed gear. DV8R is a big model and with fixed gear sticking out it would be a pain. I wouldn't give up the retracts in mine for a second. They haven't been any trouble at all as the DV8R is one model where there is space to fit everything in. Relative to the total cost, retracts are just a minor part. Do yourself a favor. Go with retracts. It'll fly faster (or at lower throttle setting) too.

I agree it,s not a jet with the gear stuck down. And the gear never gave me any problems. Heck they'll propably out last the plane.
